hey there! I'm in ontario canada as well.. and we have always fed our dogs Performatrin from Pet Valu. theres plenty of good foods out there, but i was told that you feed your dog whatever he/she does best on... (mind you its gotta be healthy in the first place) read the labels and try to get the kibble food with the highest natural content and the least 'meal' (ie corn meal, vegetable meal) the higher the natural content the more healthy stuff thats going into your dog. Science Diet, Iams, Eukanuba... those are all pretty good... but its mostly which ever your dog does best on. its also not a good idea to keep changing food either. and when you do change food... its good to mix some of the new food with the old food for atleast a few days.... if you just switch it can give the dog the runs for a few days until their system gets used to the new stuff... mixing helps cut down on that. hope this helped a little.... although the people here are great and i'm sure they will give you more great ideas!

I am originally from Ontario and just moved to Alberta this past year. I found the food to be very similar to what is in the States, but the prices different :)

I fed Eagle Pack in Ontario and I was very pleased with it. What is offered at your local pet store or feed store? I was from Kingston and then Thunder Bay and found that they had a wide variety of kibble. Kirkland is a good food and is sold at Costco for an extremely reasonable price. I also like Natural Balance, Nutro, Wellness, and Diamond.

Purina does have Proplan which is okay, but other than that I would stay away from Purina all together...the food tends to be full of grains and leaves your dog smelling with stinky ears and matted fur. Be sure to look at the ingredient list before buying a kibble and focus on the first three ingredients...they are what is most in the food and they should be meat.

Science Diet, Iams, Eukanuba... those are all pretty good...

I would have to disagree...I find that those foods are full of grains and are just big names and big prices without the quality.

I do agree with you though...its all about what works for your dog;however, you should choose a food with the best ingredients.

Good foods that are available in Ontario are Solid Gold, Eagle Pack... There are lots. If there is a Global Pet Foods near you, I strongly suggest you go there. That store ROCKS.

I'm able to get Eagle Pack in Ontario easily. (Long story...but I'm a very canadianized American.)

Eagle Pack has done wonders for my wheat intolerant Beau (Holistic Lamb and Rice formula)
