I was at the dog park yesterday eating a hundfull of peanuts and this dog was sitting staring at me so i asked his owner if i could give him one. this random lady got this terrible look on her face and goes "YOU FEED YOUR DOG NUTS!!?? - that is NOT good for them, they can be allergic."

so i said "what about peanut butter then? why is that ok?" and she was like "oh, well, thats different . . ." and just trailed off.

i dont know about you guys - but the natural peanut butter i feed my dogs has oil, salt, and PEANUTS. so am i crazy to assume that it is ok to feed a dog peanuts as a treat? she made me feel like i was a terrible dog owner or something. she was all snooty about it.

I am sure there isn't anything wrong with it, I give my dog peanuts all the time. He loves them.

Same here...Ebony loves Peanuts and Peanut Butter. That lady must have been confused like so many other people I have meet at the Dog park!!

she made me so mad. like she just looked at me and i look young and dress funky so she assumes i'm just some dumb kid with a dog and she has to play 'know it all' adult with me.

i bet i know infinitely more than her about dog foods and allergies.

I too would assume peanuts are fine, like everyone else's dogs Theo eats quite a bit of it.

However, I have read that Macadamia nuts are not good for them.

Mine eat peanuts too.
There's no way peanuts could be bad if peanut butter isn't.
