Friend called me today (he knows how much I love pets), one of his coworkers has choco lab about 8 mos old that came up as a stray. He has been getting out of the fence and the wife has told her husband has to go. I won't even comment on that.

Anyway my friend (can't take him either) does not want the pup to go to a shelter. I already have a house full.
So now I am trying to find some no kill rescue's in Alabama or somewhere that might would take him.
I know nothing else about him except his still has all his boy parts, & he has not been checked for hw, not sure about his shots. So now I am wondering if that will affect a Rescue taking him?

Next questionDo you yall think it would be appropriate to have a stickey thread somewhere on here that had a list of states and some of the no kill shelters/rescue's with phone numbers & web page links etc?
That way new members or guests would have all that at their fingertips and it might just help save another baby. Some people may need help and not want to ask right away. Just a thought.

Vanessa, that's a great idea, we do have people post their rescues here on one sticky. As far as the pup, none of that should matter to a good lab rescue, actually 90% of the rescued labs are like your friend's, that why we have an "adoption fee" to try and cover MOST of the expense we incur.

Have you had any luck finding anyone to take him into rescue? Go to Petfinder.com and click on shelter search and then type in your state and all the rescues & shelters will pop up for you to explore. I'll go and see what I can find now.

I was really impressed with this one.

Some of these may not take from an owner, so perhaps somebody else needs to "find" this Lab and call them ;).

you can also go to the National Retreiver Club site and do a search there:

Linda, I would highly suggest talking to Marcia to getting a link to LOLIN there as well.

Thanks Dani. I checked for Alabama and there is not one listed. But I did fax the names & phone #'s to my friend today. I sure hope they can find him a good home.

Thanks again Linda & Dani.
