I am getting my new puppy at the end of this month. The breeder has her on Flint River Ranch. My question is simply is this a good dog food. I am not looking to break the bank but I do want her to have a quality dog food. She will also be on NuVet Plus daily.

Flint is a great food.....if your dog can handle it. It is all human grade and they only use all U.S. grown ingredients. It's baked, so no preservatives to worry about either. Tanner thrived on it, but Duncan has some food issues and their formulas had too many ingredients and was too rich for him. (Even their allergy formula has a lot of ingredients) It is, however, a food I trust and would feed again for Tanner. If your breeder is starting your pup out on it and your pup does fine, I'd stick with it.

Don't have any personal experience with it, but I've heard it's good food. Here is their website http://www.flintriver.com/

I just ordered the trout and sweet potato formula for our dog.

I'll let you know what he thinks. ;)

I fed the Fish-n-Chips, trout & potato, formula for a few months but it didn't seem to have enough protein or fat to maintain show quality coats on my English Setters. They did love the food however and if it had more protein & fat I'd probably still be feeding it. Nothing like having your dog food delivered right to your front door twice a month! :)

I'm not a big fan of the wheat or brewer's yeast in the food. Also.. like Heather said, the protein and fat is a bit too low for my likings. Maxwell eats a food with 22% fat and 42% protein (EVO) though, we do rotate, EVO is our staple.

I do like that it is oven baked and free of harmful chemical preservatives.
