When are we going to have another FL Lab Fest? Are we going to shoot for January again? :)

Where in FL? I am in South FL.....

We've had it at Fort DeSoto the past 2 times I've been - I LOVE that place! :)

So tell me about it? I really don't know what happens at Lab Fests I am a NEWBIE :)

We are always up for a labfest! We start back to tournaments once a month in January though. DeSoto is nice...the dogs can swim and run in a fenced area and there is picnicing...maybe we should consider another area to give some others a chance to make it??? I don't have anywhere to offer but maybe someone else does. Otherwise DeSoto is good for me.:D

I'd like to go too, but I need to know ahead of time because I work most weekends.

There are quite a few parks around here that are dog friendly and some specifically for dogs. There's two dog beaches that I know of (one is a tiny offleash beach, the other is a large leashed beach.)

The tiny one has a large grassy area and then the small beach, some trees and benches in the grassy area. I've brought Sarah there before - Buck, Nova, Kiara, and Mufasa all had a great time. :)

I'm about a hour inland from Fort DeSoto.

Dakota and I are up for labfest. We would be able to make one later in January but since my recent promotion I am learning a new job so the first couple weekends I will be working.....

We are also willing to drive if we can find a place where more peeps and pups could attend !!!

I want to try to make it. I won't be able to go any further south than Ft. Desoto. It's a 5+ hour drive as is.

The last few times there was one in Florida, we met at a huge dog park in Jacksonville. They also had wash tubs which was good to clean up the dogs before the trip back home. It was a 4-5hr drive for me. The first three months of the year are extremely busy for me, but after that it isn't too bad.

Dallasblacklab, a labfest is just a meet where we put faces to the screen names. Generally we all chip in and bring something for food and drinks. Some ante up with the barbeque grill and propane while others bring the frozen burgers, hot dogs, chips, etc. The dogs also get to meet each other. The grouchy dogs are normally kept on a leash for training, and prevent injury to other dogs. It is most amusing to see 6 or 7 dogs sit in unison while waiting for a treat.

We are up for one depending on DH's work schedule and baby showers and weddings. We have a lot going on at the beginning of the year but we will definitely come if we can. I like Ft. Desoto because we can cook and eat without having to take the food in the actual dog park (fenced part) but we are also willing to drive. :)

We'd love to go...we really like DeSoto, too. I live near Tampa. We just brought our lab home last week, and I don't think she's ever seen water. We led her to the edge this morning and she acted absolutely flummoxed.

Honeymoon Island is a new park, but it's just an on-leash dog beach. No dog park to speak of.

I would love to go to one!!!

So ... do we want to try to arrange something? Should someone just pick a date and see if we can all make it?.. Maybe sometime within the next few months?

I am too busy to do any arranging at this time or I would try to do it...so someone will have to pick this up and run with it.

We would love to participate and Ft. Desoto would also be good for us.

I don't mind helping to plan... but have never been to one, so not sure how much help I would be?!?! (I have no clue what goes into a labfest other than it sounds like the best day EVER!)

I'm thinking of having a birthday party for Kiara (who may as well be a Lab!) if anyone is interested I can post the info here when it's all planned.
