Who has a dog that has food allergies?
What are they allergic too?
What food are you feeding them now?
What food were you feeding them when you discovered they had allergies?

Thank you for your answers.

I have never taken my dog to be allergy tested. I would describe her as food sensitive.

We adopted her from the shelter at around 5 months. We started her on Kirkland Puppy. Her coat improved vastly -it had been very dry and rough looking. But w/the Kirkland she was itchy, had goopy eyes and runny to soft stools. We rotated thru a variety of foods w/mixed luck. She did OK w/Natural Balance foods but we settled on Precise Foundation Chicken. She did very well w/that food. But I moved and its not longer available locally. It has no corn, wheat, soy, dairy or eggs and some oil I can't remember. It also does not have barley.

So we went back on NB. But I've been trying to find something else. We also added a puppy and I prefer to feed everybody the same food. We started w/EP Holistic LB puppy and my adult dog handled it well but lost weight (lower calories). So we tried CS for puppy. She's didn't do too well - runny to soft stools and beginning to itch. We're now trying EP Holistic C/R and so far so good. I think that barley is the culprit for her.

Jack (8 mos) is allergic to: chicken, soybean, peanuts, carrots, brewers yeast and alfalfa. He was eating ProPlan Large Breed Puppy and is now on California Natural Lamb Meal & Rice Puppy. Doing much better....

I've dealt with this allergy issue for a long time, mostly ear and digestive problems. I've tried numerous foods and medications, but never have isolated the cause. I do believe that California Natural L&R eliminated my Lab's digestive problem (frequent vomiting and loose stools). I also give him a probiotic.

Interestingly, about 2 months ago I stopped taking my dogs to a local wildlife area to run. They were getting into various animal feces and turned up with worms. There is a lot of scotch broom in this area and the Fish and Wildlife Department experiments with different chemicals to control it. They say the chemicals are not harmful. Anyway, since then neither dog has experienced ear problems (knock on wood). I gotta think the plant life and/or chemicals were the culprit.

Maxwell has a for sure corn allergy. He doesn't seem to tolerate grains very well, though I don't think he's allergic to grains since small amounts of corn set him off yet small amounts of grains do not. I was feeding iams to him a long time ago - that's how we discovered the corn allergy. He was smelly, poop was bad and he itched like mad.

He now eats wellness ocean core - great food and grain free.

Hamish has a sensitivity to chicken. It was brought to light when I was feeding raw & using chicken as the mainstay of that diet. He now eats Taste of the Wild Pacific Stream and has had none of the symptoms he had while eating chicken.
