Been reading on this, but I wanted to get a thread together to centralize some feedback on what you feel is the best food for a Lab pup? Thanks.

No clue what the best food for lab puppies in general is, but so far Louie has done wonderfully on Diamond LB Puppy which is good enough for me.

I also couldn't tell you the best food for a lab puppy is, but Dakota seems to be doing very well on Diamond LB Puppy formula. :)

Thanks. Diamond seems to be well liked in this forum.
Anyone else have any input on what they have their puts on and doing well with? Thanks!

My generic response is go with a large breed puppy food. If you feel confident in analyzing foods and their calcium content, then you can look at others. If not, stick with a large breed puppy food.

I'd recommend Nutro's Large Breed Puppy food. At Age One you can switch to the Natural Choice Lamb&Rice formula. I've fed Nutro for years to my dogs and think it's a very good food. If you decide to go with Nutro, be sure to sign up for the quantity discount with your retailer. Good Luck!

We feed Nutro Large Breed Puppy and think it's good (I've never read any negative feedback on this food). Charlie loves it too.

We also buy cans of Nutro Large Breed Puppy and put a scoop in with her kibble. She absolutely goes crazy for the canned stuff. There's a nice list of meats in the ingredients on the cans and we like this as well. You can also reduce the amount of kibble when adding the canned.

Is that Diamond LB food the same as Kirkland? (I buy it at costco)

Diamond is the same as Kirkland. I've never seen any LB puppy food at costco though? I was thinking I'd have to wait until he's old enough for adult food to switch him to that. Where you go they have LB puppy in the kirkland brand?

Thanks for the feedback. How long did you keep your pups on foods made specifically for pups?

Is that Kirkland Chicken and Rice Large Breed Puppy, or just the regular puppy?

On his 1 year birthday we switched to adult food (or began the transition over a 10 day period).

We feed Eagle Pack LB puppy. Hudson is now 8 months and we will continue to feed this food until he is older than a year.

While the "best food" debate is always a good one, I'd recommend that you start by talking this over with the breeder of your puppy. It sounds like you are doing your homework :tup2: so I am assuming you plan to get a puppy from a responsible breeder. Remember, the breeder will be the one giving the guarantee on the puppy and should have a good idea of what food works well for his/her pups.

Well, Bella says the best food for a puppy is as follows:

2 parts socks
1 part underwear
1 rock
1 stick
1 piece cat poop (if no cat poop available substitute any poop)

throw all ingredients together and mix well

top with "what do you have" or "what the hell is in your mouth"

Eat quickly before THEY CAN STOP YOU

Too funny Bellasdad!!
I was advised to feed 1, 20# bag of Euk LB puppy and then switch to Euk mait or Proplan chicken and rice adult. We did that and my dogs did well. I also fed 1/4 cup of yogurt a day for at least a year. To this day my dogs get yogurt frequently.
My 2 year old girl eats Royal Canin Lab 30 now and my 3.5 year old boy eats Pro Plan proformance because he needs the extra calories. I wouldn't switch to 30% protein till the dogs are full grown and didn't. I liked the 17%fat 26% protein in the euk and pp.
both my dogs get a bit of Senstive skin formula Pro plan or Purina one each day to help coats. Plus they like it.
