View Full Version : Frustrated!!!
HutchaMucha 05-06-2007, 01:58 PM Well, guys, as ususal, I have not been on much lately. Working too much. but I have hit a wall and I don't know how to get over it.
I have offically lost 30 lbs. It has taken me a year to do it and most of it has come off in the last 5 months.
I have been working with a trainer 2 days a week and excersising on my own at least two days a week. Following weight watchers, but for the last month, I just keep going up a pound to 2 pounds and then back down a pound to 2 pounds. I can't seem to get past this weight. I even met with my trainer and changed my workout, nothing. It is killing me.
Any suggestions? I still have a ton to lose and need to get past this.
Melody 05-06-2007, 02:10 PM Congratulations on the progress you have made so far!
What kinds of workouts were you doing before, and how have you modified them?

No, but when you get the answer, please let me know! I'm in the SAME boat, except most of my weight came off in the first 6 months. I will be doing this for a year in the begining of June! I feel so much better and I'm so much happier then where I was, but I still HAVE to lose 20 more pounds to be where I will be much healthier and hopefully able to keep the weight off!!!
I have been trying new exercises too, but it seems like I hurt myself everytime I do!
Hey, can I say though, 30 lbs is fabulous!! We should be proud of ourselves for doing that!!!! :D :D :D
HutchaMucha 05-06-2007, 06:45 PM You are right Ronda, 30 is fabulous, but unfortunately I have 75 more to go to be within my BMI range.
I was doing half weight and strength training 30 minutes followed by 30 minutes of cardio 2-3 days a week and then some other sort of cardio 2 days a week.
We have went to 45 minutes of cardio twice a week with only 15 minutes of cardio and then 1 hour of cardio 1 time a week and then at least 30 minutes of cardio at least 1 other time a week.
I think my body is just freaking out. It's like I gain weight if I eat too much an I gain weight if I don't eat enough. The balance thing is making me crazy.
surfbear 05-07-2007, 10:11 AM I hear you! I wish I had some answers that could help you!!!
I still have to lose more like 30 to be in the right BMI group and more like 40 to reach my WW goal. I'll be quite happy with 20 more though!!!!
Were you following Weight Watchers in the begining?

I know how you feel. I lost a lot of weight in the last year and now it has slowed down a lot. It can be very frustrating but like Ronda said you have to be proud of how far you have come 30lbs is AMAZING!!! What were you doing for a eating plan before WW? Are you following the flex or core plan? I am following the core plan and I do a variety of exercises. Lately I have been trying to change things up a little bit to see if that helps. I started doing the biggest loser video in the morning and I also started adding some jogging time into my walk to get my heart rate up and burn more calories. Plus I am eating different foods cause I was into a routine of eating the same foods and doing the same exercises everyday I think that my body just needed a change.
You also have to remember that you could be building muscle as well. The most important suggestion that I have for you is to not give up. Give your body sometime to catch up to all the changes you have made. Drink LOTS of water that really helps me. Good luck and hang in there :D
Melody 05-08-2007, 02:15 PM "Cardio" can be defined in many ways. What do you do for your cardio? What is your goal heart rate?
One thing my sister swears by is interval training. By pushing your body to work really hard and then slow down and then push again and then slow down (but never stop until the end), it can train your body in new and interesting ways compared to steady cardio.
thndrkttn 05-11-2007, 06:02 AM 30 seems to be the brick wall! I lost 30 and then BAM! Nothing and I was one pound shy of my BMI range. WAAAAHHHH!!! I went and saw my gyn for my annual and she was thrilled with my progress. I told her that I slowed down and wasn't sure how to get started again. Her thought was when you are in the progress of losing weight and you slow, look at how much fruit you're eating. I eat probably 5-6 servings of fruit a day. She said that was too much. While I should absolutely be eating fruit everyday, no more than three servings. So that's what I am doing while adding in more straight protein. 4 more pounds down to 34 lost. I hit my BMI weight range 3 pounds ago and seriously thought I was going to cry when it said "Healthy Weight Range For Your Age and Height".
Hang in there you guys!! I would re-examine your diets, maybe take some stuff out and add some other stuff in. I have 11 more to go to be happy, 16 more to be thrilled.

What do you eat in a typical day? Are you eating, say, peanut butter most days, or granola? Fruit smoothies? One serving of any of those things can be 400 calories and at the end of the day, you'll lose weight when you burn more calories than you take in. It sounds like you have the exercising down pat, which is why I asked about foods you eat. Some foods are good for you but aren't worth it most of the time because they have so many calories.
TheDukesMom 05-15-2007, 04:58 AM I have hit a "plateau" in the past also but it's always because something had to be changed. Either I was eating right and not exercising, or exercising and not eating right at the time I hit the plateau. I think you should reevaluate your caloric intake and see what you could change...
BTW, 30 lbs?!? That's SO GREAT! Congratulations on that! :)
HutchaMucha 05-17-2007, 10:33 PM Thank you. I am evaluating that too. I am also being tested for food intolerance. I let you know how it goes, it will be probably a month before I know the results.
