Hello. I am not sure of the proper format. I have never participated in a chat room. I did this primarily because I do have a question. I would appreciate your response if you had a similar experienc. My dog, very well bred, is yellow. He was born and lived in Florida. His nose was (keyword: was) black. When he was two, because of my business, we spent the vast majority of our time in the cold Northeast. His nose turned pink within three months. We returned home (Florida) one year ago -his age 4. His nose, while a bit darker, is still pink. Our breeder suggested it was due to a lack of vitamin E. After three months of 400 mg. of E per day, his nose is still pink. Not very pink. There always has been traces of black, but pink non the less. This certainly does not alter our affection in anyway, but I would like to know if anyone else has experienced this and if there is anything one can do to restore a black nose. Again, not the most important thing in the world, just something I would consider to be interesting. Thank you so much.

Hi Pihuber and welcome!

Not sure about your dog's nose....is he what would be consideded a Dudley? I think, if the pigmentation is lighter on the eyelids and the nose is pink, it is called a "dudley" nose. For more information on that, you can see a thread from last week called "Winter or Snow noses". There was some very good info there.

Other then that, do you think there might be something else in his diet he is missing?

Sorry I could not be of any help, but welcome anyway!

Welcome Pihuber!
I don't know about your dog's black turned pink nose, but we have a Golden Retriever whose nose was reddish-brown until we moved to Colorado Springs. His nose then lost all of it's pigment and got dry and cracked, sometimes even bleeding. The Vet said he has Auto Immune Disease. His nose is better when he stays out of the sun. We give him 3-V capsules and it really helps. It doesn't sound like it is the same with your dog though.

Glad you found this site!! Lot's of info here.
As mentioned above, check out the thread on "Winter noses...
Abraham is a "Dudley" so there is no black what so ever.
Welcome again!!
