Hello,

Yesterday we bought the Costco Kirkland Glucosamine Chondroitin with MSM for our puppy Each pill is 500 mg of glucosamine sulphate, 400 mg of chondroitin sulphate, and 400 mg of MSM. The pills are very large and seem like a lot for him. We thought maybe half with his breakfast and half with his supper. What dosages do you all give your dogs? Our puppy is 9 weeks old and probably not much more than 10 lbs. We realize that this supplement won't do much for him right now, but we thought that we would use it from the start as a preventative measure against any problems he might have as an older dog.

Thanks for your input.

p.s. Thanks to labby for all your help on this topic yesterday, and if you could help us out with dosages, we'd really appreciate it as well.

This might do better down in the Diet and Nutrition area, so I'm moving it ...

We were told to give 1000mg to our 14 month old who HAS problems. I bought a bottle of doggie G&C from Trader Joes and for a dog the size you are speaking of, they recommend one pill which is 250 mg of G and 200 mg of C.

This is probably enough as a preventative dose for your pup.

I'd break the pill in half and give him a half each day.

The following LB puppy and adult foods DEFINITELY will provide 250mg of G&C through normal feeding:

Nutro LB
Eukanuba LB
Eagle Pack LB
Royal Canin Maxi Puupy 32

In fact most of these foods will provide close 750 mg of G&C.

Very interesting to read the 250 is all that is recommended for preventative purposes.

Good Luck!
