just curious. I saw it at the pet store the other day. it's being sold for $60 fo a 30lb bag:eek:! it's outrageous. to me, the food is mediocre at best. apparently they 'freeze dry' raw meat into it. anyone ever heard of it?

Are you talking about Purina's The Good Life?

Or Great Life Performance pet food? (I assume you mean this one)

I have heard of it, but have never fed it. The protein and fat are too low for my liking. Also, for what it is, it's way overpriced.

Why would you think this food is mediocre? When reviewing the ingredients, it's VERY similar to Nature's Variety, who uses a bio-coating made up of raw food. I probably wouldn't pick it due to cost and availability.

This is one of the grain and potato free kibbles I am looking at. I'd love to hear any opinions

I'm confused. It doesn't seem grain free. When I clicked on the link and read the ingredients, there is barley and brown rice in each formula which has the meat mixture sprayed on it - if I'm reading it correctly.

They have a grain free formula... it's in the index, towards the top. I just found it last night. It's very expensive... the chicken formula, I believe is 60 dollars, plus shipping for a 25 pound bag.

It's very similar to Instinct. I doubt that I will try it since it's so close to Instinct and twice the price.

I feed the basic chicken formula to my 4 month old puppy. He has been on this for about 2 months. Obviously not long enough to give a long term opinion, but he has done well on it thus far. I am in the process of switching him off to Orijen simply due to availability (the only store that sells it in VA is 2-hours away). The additional $10 for Orijen is worth the convenience.

I do not like the fact that the manufacturer does not describe what percentage of the food is the kibble and the freeze dried raw. The two components have different ingredients and I think they should be clear on what drives the nutrition values. I assume the freeze dried raw is a minuscule amount.

The only variance I noticed is his poops are larger with Orijen.
