Katie's Mommy

Katie's birthday is coming up. We missed her first birthday due to her being boarded with a trainer, so I wanted this birthday (2nd) to be extra special. We are surely going to have over her buddy Olive, who owns my best friend and is my neighbor:). If her and Olive are able to meet him, another friend of mine has a dog named Bo, so he might get invited as well. The last dog I'm hoping to invite, is Katie's brother, Blu (or Bleu, I'm not really sure:p:) who owns a man living in a neighboring town. There will be plently of toys for everyone, possibly little gift bags for the guests, present opening, possibly a trip to the local dog park, and hopefully...CAKE!!!! I know there are certain ingredients toxic to dogs, like chocolate, and none of those will be in the cake. I was thinking of putting some of her dog food in it, and using peanut butter to hold everything together. My instincts are telling me to look into this further, and with a bunch of extra food and peanut butter, I'm guessing it may make the dogs fat, and that I should only feed Katie one meal that day (usually she gets two).

My main questions are: Has anyone ever done something like this for their furry friends? Any ideas for healthy, non-toxic ingredients that won't make them fat or slow down their playing?

Thanks in advance, I'm very interested to see if anyone else has thought of or done this before...

Jenny

P.S. No humans will be eating any of the dog cake!!!!;):) And as you can see in my signature, her birthday is April 20.

Sounds great! Thanks so much for the recipe!!!! I think Katie and her furry friends will love it! Haley, my neighbor owned by Olive, said she has a recipe book for stuff dogs can eat, so maybe I'll combine one of those recipes with the one you gave me to make a unique one...:)I love baking.
