Help me understand all this please..... I am attaching a picture of my Cadbury's bloodline, and from what I gather they are predominantly field dogs?

I bought my Cadbury as an addition to my family and love her unconditionally.

Thank you in advance!

Yes! I'm not too terribly familiar with FT bloodlines, but her pedigree looks to be pretty impressive. She does have some show champions behind her as well.

Very nice! Yes, mostly field but some nice performance/show lines there too. Did you buy this pup strictly as a companion or do you plan to breed possibly? Anne

Well I bought her as a pet.... I don't know the slightest about breeding, so it would be foolish on my part to say I plan on breeding her when I am clueless....

Does she have a good enough pedigree for one to think about breeding her??? Like I said I havent the slightest idea about any of this?!?!?!?

Thanks again,

Daiman

I'd not even consider it if you are "clueless" about breeding as there are too many things to factor in and learn about. She's got some great dogs behind her, however... without knowing the OFA hip/elbow status of both parents, CERF, EIC, CNM and PRA status, I'd say absolutely not. I was just curious as you posted in the Breeders section and have sent you a PM.

Probably not.

Her pedigree is only a small part of the breeding equation. You would want to test her against the promise of her pedigree and get involved in hunt tests/field trials and put a title her. She would also have to pass all of her health clearances.

I appreciate your feed back 3 colors as well as everyone else that has responded...WildCanyon has been very helpful...Like I stated she was bought for a pet and companion.....

Even though I have bought Cadbury with this in mind would it hurt any to get her in to some field trials/hunt trials?? I think it would be fun and she has a natural knack for playing fetch and constantly follows ducks and gees in the air as the fly over-head

Not at all-- it's great for the dogs and people both! I think you'd find field trials are a bit beyond the scope for a "normal" person (very expensive and extensive training involved) but the hunt tests (JH especially) are quite do-able and fun. Look to see if you have a hunt test club in your area, and ask if they have a fun day to introduce new folks to the arena. Anne
