I have a 11 month old Lab who eats Eagle Pack Holistic which she loves. I have been reading previous posts and Canidae is highly regarded around here. So earlier tonight I went and bought a small bag to try it out. I was online and I came across a site which said Canidae tested positive for pain killers!! Someone please clarify this is you can.

I already got e-mailed this back in October, and it is a scam, so I'm going to repeat what I learned here so no one panics. If you read through this stuff and decide you still don't want to feed one of these foods, that's your decision, but we are still feeding Canidae to Cole.
I'm assuming you're talking about an article that links back to this one: http://www.consumeraffairs.com/news04/2007/09/pet_food_recalls71.html At the bottom of the article is a link to "report your consumer report." If you do so, you will be contacted by a lawyer asking if you want part in a class-action lawsuit. This is because consumeraffairs.com is not a "legitimate" consumer report site, and is kind of a dummy site set up by these class-action lawyers. Note also that the original article says that the dog food was sent in a ziploc baggie, and it seems to be a mix of two different Canidae foods.
A number of other "premium" foods have "tested positive" for acetaminophen, but ONLY at this ExperTox lab. These foods include Eagle Pack and Innova. When the FDA and two university labs did tests, they found nothing. Interesting that in some of the news articles you can dig up about this, ExperTox was HIRED by consumeraffairs.com to do the testing. Eagle Pack responds to this on their website: http://www.eaglepack.com/Pages/EP_itchmo.html
This news article (http://www.cnsnews.com/ViewNation.asp?Page=/Nation/archive/200702/NAT20070212a.html) shows that consumeraffairs.com has been facing lawsuits BEFORE the pet food scare for defamation. Personally, I think they are preying on the fears of pet owners in the wake of the pet food scare. Which would make them sick people.

I read this too and I am not buying it the test study that is. If they had more than one Lab that had test results to show this I would consider it to be fact but it is only this one isolated testing facility and they are a private facility not used by the FDA so you have to wonder. I have used Canidae in the past and am now using it again. I feel that it is a good quality food, not the best, but again when you are feeding multiple dogs and you are not Bill Gates:brow: you have to feed the best you can but it also has be cost effective, which I think Canidae is. I still believe that Raw is best but again the reality is with rising food prices I just can't aford to feed a total raw diet. I think this is just another scare tactic either induced by another kibble company or WHO KNOWS:rolleyes: I will continue to feed Candidae and feel very secure doing it:thumb4:

This originally came up in the summer/fall of 2007. It has never been substantiated by any other lab.
