Shadow's Mom

I adopted a 4 year old lab/beagle mix from a shelter in November. So far she seems to be a wonderful dog and I hope to eventually have her tested to be a therapy dog. She is a people dog, loves attention, loves meeting new people, and she's sweet and calm. I'm trying to find her something that she'll be passionate about and since she has no desire whatsoever to touch a toy, I'm hoping this will be a good direction for her to go in.
I've visited the TDI web site and read through the tests. I feel pretty confident she can pass most of the tests. She appears to have been trained previously but I want to brush up on her skills and plan on starting her in a basic obiedence class soon (mostly to help her walk loose on a lead and with her stay command-she's a velcro dog).
I have noticed that she seems to be unsure of herself when walking on slippery floors. I did figure out the fur between her paw pads was way overgrown and have since trimmed it back...and that's helped, but if she can avoid a slippery floor she will (she hopped from rug to rug at a friends house to get through the kitchen). She's doing better on the kitchen floor at our house, but when we visit a new place she gets nervous with the slippery floors, but will go slowly and walk across them.
Does anyone have advice how I can help her gain confidence on slippery floors?
