hey there,

I first wanted to thank all of you guys who replied to my last post!!!! She is doing awesome!!!! Not even one accident since the post! I think she just needed to learn the hard way!

My next question,
We are house trainning (littlte Miss). During the day I take her out every hour or so ( was going out every 30 min but she didn't seem to need it). And at night 2 times...every four hours.

She is like 90% there, she knows when I take her out and say potty she needs to go. The only problem is when we are in the house I try to never let her out of my sight, it seems like once a day she finds a way...usually I catch her in the act....I clap my hands and really loudly say no!!! NO !!!! and then take her out right away. I have seen other dogs go to the door bark and even put there paws on the door to get out, is there something I need to do to get her to o this? She is 7 weeks and we have had her for 2 weeks...

Thanks
Coopdog

We have had Kobi since he was 7 weeks, and we are crate training him. One day he starting going to the back door by himself waiting there for us and barking when we were not paying attention. He actually goes to the dining room, stops looks at us then on to the back door where he patiently waits or whines if he doesnt have our attention. This is not something we taught him, he sort of just started doing it. We were all suprised. He is 12 weeks now but this all started several weeks ago.

Coopdog,

Something to think about when clapping the hands and raising your voice at the puppy. By this action you are going to startle the puppy. Once they are startled they will know that something is wrong but will loose focus as to what the corrected action is that is taking place. Crate training is the easiest and fastest way to house train any pup. I would reccomend that for starters. second if at all possible I would reccomend that you get a pet door. at seven weeks you cannot expect the pup to know what or where to go. They do not have any sort of bladder control at that age. Be patient and stick with it the light will come on..

One other thing about the loud noises when they are potting. I have seen pups become afraid of going to the bathroom in front of people so they begin to hide in different places in the house.. This is something very difficult to break so be patient and try not to scare them.. The best bet is to take them out whenever they get up or get done playin, eating or being active.. ;) good luck...

Also at 7 weeks it is really to early to expect the pup not to have accidents. What you can do is tie a bell on your door so that every time you take the puppy out to potty the bell will ring. I've heard from several people how their dog goes to the door and rings the bell after this sort of training. I also agree with crate training! :)
