Ever since Finley got back from the vet's last Friday, it seems that he is always hungry. He went in for stomach issues and they didn't feed him for 2 days so that his system cleared. They put him on a prescription dog food, which recommends about 3 cups / day. His puppy food is recommended at 4 cups a day (which is what he used to get), so he tends to get a little hungry late at night. When this happens, he barks a lot to let us know that his tummy is growling :) Does anyone have any ideas on what I should do to help curb his apetite until he makes it back onto the normal food (should be 4 more days).

I am not a big believer in recommended portions....I would go ahead and give him some more.

If it was me I would check with your vet on if you should give him more food. It would be my guess that your pup is not getting the bulk that he usually gets. The new food may have many more calories than your old dog food.

I think like kitkat too. Feed as you feel fit, but your puppy is comming off a stomach problem. That is why I would contact your vet. before feeding him more. He may only get that much for a good reason.

The vet didn't specify anything and I am just going off of what is on the bag. His puppy food has 336kcal/cup and the prescription has 379kcal/cup, so there are 13% more calories in the prescription. He has had a 20% reduction in food though, so I guess I'll just give him 1/4 to 1/2 a cup at night to help tide him over until morning.
