I'm going to be a foster home! I've never fostered before and I want, desperately to be a good doggie foster mom. I'm getting Bo, a 4 month old, black lab mix this weekend. A little extra board mojo will help me do a good job, I'm sure. I'm sooooo excited!:D

Everything else - just do it the same way you always have! But truly- the trick is to love them enough to send them on to their forever home. It's HARD to do sometimes. We seem to keep the 'hard to place' ones for ourselves to make sure they get good homes!! And of course you know we permanently added our last foster to the family!!:D

Great news ! But I do warn you not to get attached. I had a foster lab for only 3 days while waiting on transport and I cried like a baby when she left. It takes no time at all for them to get in your heart. Please post pics in the rescue section when you finally have Bo. :)

Hi, Nancy ~ Ooh....congratulations! Is Bo the little one from the rescue in Pennsylvania that looks like he's got a bit of Rottweiler coloring? Our forum member "Johnny" (in England) was corresponding with "Crankybeef" about adopting him a couple of weeks ago. I haven't heard from Johnny lately, so I don't know if that's still something being discussed/overseas adoption would work out. That particular Bo was on PetFinders.

Regardless, I'm glad you and Barney decided to add to your family this way. You should have a lot of fun with this.

I'd like to foster eventually, but for now 3 dogs and 3 cats will have to be enough! DH would probably divorce me it I even suggested it yet :)

It took a couple of days, but, he knows it's something I've always wanted to do. He said I can try once and if it all works out ok for us and our dogs I can keep doing it. But, he only wants one at a time (unless they're very young puppies)and he doesn't want anything over a year. Hopefully, he'll like it as much as I know I will, so I can keep doing it.

Congrats!! Bo is one very lucky pup. You will do GREAT. Am so very happy for you. Barney sounds like my DH. I think the reason he is reluctant to fostering is that the dog will never be able to leave. In his words "If they walk in this door, they stay here."

I'm fairly new to this board - but I have to tell you that I am SO proud of you for doing this ! I wish I could foster and someday I will.
