Thanks so much everyone who helped me with all my questions about dog food. She is currently eating IAMS and I know it isn't the quality she should be on. So I'm changing her to The Precise Plus Canine Adult (the specs are to follow for anyone interested). Its available in with 2 local suppliers and after buying 10 bags you get the 11th free!. I talked to several people who are having really good results with it. It is comparable in price to Candiae but Candiae is only available in one specialty shop down town who isn't open very good hours that is 30 minutes away. I’ll let you know how she makes out, I’m picking it up today. The supplier told me that if I get it and she don’t like it or I don’t have good results then return it for full refund.

So far so good....she seems to like it. I gave her 1/4 cup last night and this morning. Her poop looked big and healthy (Ebony don't usually have any problems in that department!)

Was she enthusiastic about the change?

Not really....Ebony isn't a dog who is food crazy (unless it is people food!!). She still waited for me to add Olive Oil to her dish. If that was people food she would have eaten it not even thinking about the oil. I don't think it is satisfying her the same as the IAMS and I may have to feed her more. Everyone told me that once I put her on a better food she wont need has much....but I think she is going to need more. The bag says to feed 2 - 3 cups a day for her weight. She is still in the middle of the change over so she is getting 2.5 cups total (half Iams and half Precise). The last few nights she is getting hungry....Ebony never goes to her dish unless she is hungry. So I add a little bit of kibble to her treat ball....which seems to satisfy her (it takes her awhile to get it all out).

I guess I just got to wait until I have her fully changed over and she how she is then. I don't want to be adding things to her food everyday because she then won’t eat until she do get something added.

Thanks
Serena

Could it be that she's going over to her bowl because she likes the food better? Drum was never an enthusiastic eater until we switched to the duck & potato food. He used to leave food in his bowl for 2 or 3 days sometimes. Now he begs for food at odd times during the day, yet I feed him less than with every other food I've used AND his weight is much better than it's ever been (he's always tended toward being too thin).

I'd give it a little while... and hope what looks like hunger is really pleasure with the new food!

ummmmm... I never thought about it that way. I'm going to keep the same quantity for a bit and see how it goes.

Thanks so much!
