Just wondering. Have moved away from RAW in favor of a high qaulity kibble, but there are major differences already. Shadow's drinking much more water. She's a little more wired. Strange....
Any thoughts on the protein content?

I think dogs who eat raw drink less water because of the moisture content. So it would make sense that she is drinking more on kibble. Excessive drinking could mean diabetes too. I don't know about the amount of protein for seniors though.

Innova Evo was actually recommended for my son's 7 year old australian shepherd dog who was diagnosed with lymphoma last January. He is in remission now after treatment. The high protein and high fat with low carbs is considered helpful for cancer patients. I have read that senior dogs can benefit from the higher meat-based protein percentage in a food like Innova Evo. Orijen Adult is very similar and we have our 6 year old golden ret. on it and he does great. So, we are feeding our 12 week old lab Luna the Orijen Large Breed Puppy. Our dogs naturally tend to drink a lot of water, but just to make sure they get plenty, I typically add a spoonful of canned and 1/3 cup water to their dry kibble.

Higher protein can benefit seniors as it helps to maintain muscle mass-in turn helping with joints, ligaments and tendons.
As far as protein for cancer patients - I would say yes to the Evo.

I feed all three of my girls a half cup of EVO in the morning with 1/3 can of either Merrick or EVO canned. They are 6, 9, and 11, and the 11 year old has liver problems. They eat raw or homecooked in the evenings. They all love the EVO and I have found that I don't have to feed them as much. Before I was feeding them 3/4 cup to a cup of EP Holistic Fishy. I figured the higher quantity of a higher quality protein can't hurt but I may need to watch the fat if they put on weight. So far so good.
