I found some Jack Mackeral in the grocery store this weekend - waaaaay up on the top shelf - must not be a big seller here in Wisconsin. I wanted to wait until Sunday to give it to them so I could monitor. Wow - talk about having their undivided attention. Gone in 60 seconds or less. I guess they liked it huh?

My kitchen however smelled fishy :hmm:

LOL!!

Ours is on the top shelf at grocery stores too. AND the price has gone way up. It used to be under a dollar; as of last weekend it's $1.29.

Back when Grip had his obstruction and we still didn't know about it, he PUKED his jack mackerel meal.

Oh
My
Goodness.

He puked right next to the fridge, and the floor slopes, and it got under the fridge and I washed the floors with everything imaginable for 3 days and you could STILL smell the stench out on the road past my house. Happily now they don't show any eruptions of any kind from it now.

Stanky Fish.

Oh, boy, does it ever make Java's breath stink! She loves it, though. She gets all worked up as soon as I open the can. Of course, she's on my heels from the time I wash out her bowl, no matter what is going in it.

I'm sorry but I laughed out loud at that one!!! I can only imagine.

Cost of mine was 83 cents a can.

I found it on sale for 69 cents a can. Hogan absolutely LOVES it. But yes, his breath is gross. And I noticed some farting lately...perhaps this is th culprit???
But his coat is thick and beautiful!!!!

I'm so jealous :( Once I found it on sale for $.79/can but it was a 4 can maximum! Great cheap source of nutrition they love.

I can't seem to find Jack Mackeral here but I feed sardines all the time... They are McBains favorite food! I usually find them on sale for $0.77 a can and stock up.

And another gross fish story....

I fed McBain fish head in the summer (it was a salmon head I believe). Right after he ate it my mother-in-law showed up at the door and he got all excited and was jumping around and doing his happy dance. Well he barfed the salmon head up on the carpet and one eyeball landed right on top of the pile! It was sooooo gross! Neither my SU or his mom were very impressed.

After reading these posts, I bought my dog a can of mackarel. I was expecting something like tuna fish - not whole chunks of fish! I didn't think Kenai would touch it, but he gobbled it right up. We'll see how the "air" smells tonight...

LOL Good Luck!

McBain doesn't have gas after fish so maybe you'll be lucky too!

I don't remember the other posts on this....so, I'll have to ask again. What's this a good source of?

Make sure you rinse it really well because of the sodium. Our dogs love it too! The stinkier the better!

Think I will give this a try for Kendal. What's a little stinky fart among friends?
