Mitzi's Mom 07-31-2009, 02:02 PM Jess called me earlier today to tell me that Kane got adopted!!!!
I'll let her share all of the wonderful details with you -but it sounds like an AMAZING family!
YAY Kane! YAY Jess!
Thank you
jrosler04 07-31-2009, 02:57 PM Well, things went WONDERFUL with kane!
Sorry, Jen, lost cell service, and just got it back a few mins ago! LONG drive through the country to get up there!
Kane now lives on a horse farm, with a very wonderful family! They have 3 children, and a smaller dog (I believe a jack russel terrier mix) and I know this is jus the perfect home for Kane!!
They lost thier senior lab earlier this year, and they decided to adopt an adult lab who was past that crazy puppy stage.
Kane did wonderful with the family, he settled right in with them, and was happy to walk like the perfect gentleman on the leash with the children, and he even jumped up in the back of thier SUV without any issues..even though I had to lift his 90lb rear. into my SUV...
I must say, I feel REALLY pleased wth this placement..now to move Kodah the puppy! :)
Kim Sellers 08-01-2009, 07:23 AM Way to go Jess!! Thanks for the good update!!
KodahBear 08-02-2009, 06:42 PM Such Great News! Cocoa now Katie from the Chipley pull is doing wonderfully with her family as well! I will ask her to send me a current picture. I think we need updated pictures from that great pull!
jrosler04 08-02-2009, 07:35 PM I believe that Kane's new mom will be joining the forum. He is now named Jake, and he responds well to it!
They had some issues the first 2 days, he was vomiting a lot...and I found that he & another one of the fosters (a boston terrier) had managed to eat a bag of cat food Overnight Thursday night, and I think that & the stress of the home change had his tummy upset, he is doing much better today though!!
Hello! I just want to thank you all for rescueing "Kane" from the pound in Florida! His journey has been incredible and so are all of you who played a role in saving him!!! I can not tell you how happy we are to have him join our family! He has adjusted really well and seems really happy here!! We decided that along with his new home and new life, we would go ahead and give him a new name... We started calling him "Jake" when he came home and he responded to it immediately! He LOVES the kids and is so good in the house! He just wants to find a good spot and lay down close to one of us. I just can't tell you how excited we are that he is adapting so well and so quickly. It's just like he has always been here! He lays on the kitchen floor while I cook and lays on his bed while Martin watches tv. Sometimes he comes and lays down in his kennel beside my computer while I check email. He loves to play with the kids and lets them lead him all over the yard on his leash, he doesn't even pull my 3 year old! He likes to climb up into the kids playhouse and lay down while they swing and play in the back yard and he also loves playing fetch with Izzy(the JRT cross - also a rescue)! We couldn't ask for a better dog! He is just a perfect fit for our family! Who could possibly as for more than a BEAUTIFUL, CALM, HOUSEBROKEN, SWEET 3 year old lab!!! Puppies are cute but Jake is AWESOME!! I don't think I'll EVER buy another puppy - any dog we decide to add to our family in the future will be an adopted adult dog for sure!!! Thank you so much for rescueing Jake and giving us the opportunity to add him to our family!!!! He is just what we have been looking for!!!!!
THANK YOU ALL SO VERY, VERY MUCH!!!!
Very Sincerely,
Jani (Jake and Izzy's Mom - along with Madison, Morgan, Josh (human kids!), Scotch, Maizey, Jasper, Tiger and Zoe (horses)and Scratch (the lone feline!))
Mitzi's Mom 08-04-2009, 06:01 AM Jani,
Welcome to the lab board and congratulations on your new addition, Jake!
Several months ago, I joined the lab board and was prompted by KodahBear (Sabrina) to head down to Chipley, FL to bring her a chocolate lab, Cocoa. There was a lot of interest in the labs down there, and I ended up having to rent a cargo van in order to bring back SIX dogs to Atlanta. It was an amazing adventure knowing that people in four different states around the country wanted to rescue these dogs. Two of the males, Marshall and Kane, went to Jess - the angel in Ohio.
I love that you gave Kane a new name - Jake - to start his new life. What is so neat is that I too have three kids (9, 7 and 5) - who Kane was wonderful with. And, that my oldest son's name is Jake! Coincidence.... :)
It sounds like Jake has settled into your family perfectly. I'm sure he is as grateful to you as you are to him. Enjoy!
Lots and lots of thanks!
Jenn.
Jenn,
How fun that your son's name is Jake!!!! That is so neat!! I have to say that you are an extraordinary person to take such and adventure with your kids!! I can not thank you enough for rescueing all of these dogs! I am sure they will all have wonderful new lives making families happy all thanks to you and the great folks who are finding them homes!!!! Thank you all so much! I wish they could all talk and tell us their stories! Wouldn't that be a book we would all want to read!?!?!?
