View Full Version : That Karma...sometimes it's a b****...

I hope this doesn't come out wrong or sounding insensitive, because I am not trying for it to be that way....however, here goes.

Okay, you remember the kennel that we took the 16 labs from about a month ago? Well, as I was scanning through the newpaper, I found this ad:

KENNEL CLOSING: Seeking Homes for 1-male Great Dane, 1-Female Great Dane, 3-year-old Chocolate Lab, 1 6-mo.-old Male Yellow Lab. All AKC Registered, Sold As Is, Call for Prices&Info.

The number listed was the number for the kennel that we helped out. They did keep a female and the 6 month old was slated to go with her son. So I called, I had to check up on microchipping information anyways, so I called. The woman answered and I identified myself and asked how she was doing.

She answered..."I'm doing okay, even after (SU) died" :( OMG! I said, "OH (LADY) I am so sorry"...and she went on and talked about getting the house ready and on the market and her sons coming back from the middle east (in the military) for the funeral and the remaining dogs...and I asked her if I could help take the other two from her and she mentioned the ad. If these dogs don't get purchased then they are coming here. I really hope they don't because Coco needs medical attention and the little boy needs socialization.

Anyways, I was talking to my rescue contact at the shelter and they said, "Yeah, that Karma...sometimes it's a b****". I have to somewhat agree on this one. While I feel bad for the woman whose life revolved around this man, I can't get out of my mind the conditions that these dogs were kept in.

I feel like a bad person. :(

 wow...
what does she want for them?
"As-Is" - I wonder if she is going
going to disclose?
Can we try to get them to
the right place?

Dani,

I can focus on helping the dogs if or when I need to. But, there is nothing to excuse how she treated these dogs. The fact she now faces some hardships does not erase anything she did. I feel no pity nor sorrow for her. This isn't karma; this is life; spouses die; health fails.

What did not have to be, what was never inevitable, was the way she used and sorely neglected all those dogs who had no way of calling for help or finding a way out ... until they met you, that is.

I'm also not going to ask for foregiveness for believing she did a lot of harm over the years. I don't need foregiveness; she might need some, especially if St. Peter happens to be a big beautiful Saint Dog.

Susan, I agree 100%.

Dani, people that tell me they want to try and sell the dog before placing him in a safe rescue, can kiss my butt. I tell them that I can't help them. I then call the shelter and ask them to call me once they surrender the dog and then I'll help. I NEVER let the original owner know that the dog is safe.

A perfect example is a lady down the street wanted to get rid of her Golden because she built a new house and did not want it to smell like a dog. She called me, said she wanted $250.00 for her because she paid $250.00 for her 5 years ago. I told her that I do not "buy" unwanted animals and told her good luck. She placed an ad in the paper with no responses. Surrendered her to the shelter and I found her a home with the trainer at Petsmart. I of course told her that I saw her dog at the shelter and was so sorry, but she was put to sleep. Hopefully she'll never get another dog.

My feelings are if you tell them their once loved pet was PTS after being dumped MAYBE it will have a lasting effect on them.

I guess I feel bad for the lady...and think that karma really hit the man. I am calous...It's obvious that something went on. Ana still is having problems trusting the husband of the woman who owns her...coincidently, he looks a lot like the guy that owned the kennel.

Telling this woman that any of these dogs would be put down would not mean anything. The sent Moka to the shelter...and I got her the day she was to be put down.

They sent two of their Danes to the shelter because they wouldn't produce. They don't know that I had to put down 3 of the 16 because they were agressive. I'd rather her not know until I get these other two dogs...but looks like I will have to wait for that.

With all of these dogs in the shelter and these two...I am going to hope for the lottery and a windfall of foster homes. :(
