Does anyone have a suggestion/recipes on how to make the stuffing in Kongs last longer? I put some dog food and peanut butter my lab's Kong and he has it empty in no time.

Freezing overnight makes it last longer.

I layer pb and treats and then, covering the little hole, add a little water to soak into the treats. It all freezes together so they have to chew on it longer to break it up.

I use a layer of PB and then a quater of a bananna and then another layer of PB and then freeze overnight. Works great!

Love to put cheese in the little whole, flip uside down and place in a cup. Then fill with low sodium chicken broth... lasts a good long while and low calorie!

I cut up bananas into pieces, then do a layer of them and then a layer of plain nonfat yogurt, and repeat until stuffed. Then freeze overnight. I make sure there's a good chunk of banana right at the big end to entice her. It lasts her a good 30 minutes.

OOPSIE! Just looked at my post and forgot the freezing overnight part! LOL! Guess it wouldn't last too long if ya forgot that part!:D

This was wonderful....Loup just loved it.

I have tried to put stuff in kong, what a mess! how can you put a layer with small hole opening, I was only able to stuff it by knife...since there is no way i can fit a spoon in the opening.

any ideas?

I stuff the kong with my hands. It's messy, but worth the time she is occupied.

One of Aidan's favorites is her food mixed with yogurt, close the hole with peanut butter and freeze. It takes only a little yogurt to wet all the food.

Kain loves his puppy Kong no matter whats in it!! He has at least half his daily food in a Kong, the rest we "scatter feed" or put in a "treat ball". He hardly ever eats from a bowl. Every meal is like an adventure!!

I plug the little hole with cream cheese, then fill with fat free plain yogurt and freeze. It's his "going in the crate" treat when I leave for work. It's not messy as it melts during the day and easy to clean - just rinse out and throw it in the dishwasher.
