Has anyone dealt with these folks?
http://www.rescuealab.com/blog.asp

I'd like to adopt one of their dogs, but the sassy (for lack of a better word) tone on their homepage gives me a bit of pause.

I'm wondering how amenable they'd be to (1) answering a few questions about a dog's health via phone *before* I fill out an application to adopt, and (2) my preference to adopt a specific dog -- there is one beautiful guy I'm particularly hopeful to take in.

If anyone has experience with this rescue, please advise...
Should I be nervous about them being standoffish?

Don't want to rub the wrong way.
Thanks :o:

I've never dealt with them, but they give an email address on the FAQ page for asking questions about a specific dog. Seems to be useable prior to filing an application. Their requirements don't seem that unusual for a rescue that I can see. Am I missing something?

PM me if you would like. My Bailey and Bruno came from here and I used to help out with this rescue.

If you are looking to adopt a Lab, I have one that I must give up. He is a 2.5 year old yellow male. I live in Charleston, WV and I can't find any rescues here in WV, so I was going to try to place him with a rescue in Ohio. Thanks.

I've adopted three labs here. It is an online application process. Once approved you will have an appointment to meet any dogs you are interested in. Wonderful dogs cared for by passionate folks!

The greyhound group that I foster with has the same requirement. I used to think it was stupid until I fostered. It makes it so that you can "speak for a dog" immediately and not have to wait to go through the process. It makes it more fair for everyone. No fights on who has the right to adopt first if two people want the same dog. Makes things run more smoothly. The greyhound group that I foster for has a lot of procedures but it makes for better adoptions. The last thing we want is to get a dog returned back to us because the adoption didn't work out. We try to make the best matches as possible. We don't "dump" our dogs in just any home. Just be patient.

Good luck, Lab are wonderful. I am owned by one!
