I'll make one huge list if everyone wants to add in their choice.

(I have a B&N gift card burning a hole in my pocket)

The Broker - John Grisham
or
Predator - Patricia Cornwell

I haven't read either yet - but my Borders gift certificate is just waiting to be used!

The Secret Life of Bees was a wonderful book too... anyone else read that yet?

My Daughter just read Secret Life of Bees and LOVED it. She then took a quiz on it and passed it., only to have the book pulled out of the library. Too adult they say.

They pull all the good books nowadays...

When my younger sis was in high school (1996-2000) they were no longer allowed to read To Kill a Mockingbird, Grapes of Wrath, A Separate Peace or Catcher in the Rye. Can you believe it??? Ridiculous. What is wrong with this world?

The Secret Life of Bees was such a great book about relationships between mothers, daughters, sisters and just growing up. What a shame.

I can't remember the one sister's name in the book who used to write her sorrows on the paper and stick them in the rock wall... but I always think that I feel like she did whenever I read the rescue threads here (or even watch Animal Cops!). The sorrow is just sometimes too much for me to take.

I would love to know what reason they would take thouse off the approved reading list. What is next Animal Farm, 1984???? True when we were in High School did we really want to read these?
