Three Stooges

I've been thinking about purchasing another automatic litterbox for my 3 cats. I have the Litter Robot, which I LOVE, but I have one cat that won't use a covered box. I've been reading reviews on some of the other ones. The only 2 that I think would be big enough for her are the Littermaid 900 or the SmartScoop. I was wondering if anyone has the Smartscoop, because so far, what I've read about the Littermaid hasn't impressed me, but I haven't been able to find alot about the SmartScoop.

Any input??

Thanks!

I'm also in the market for a self cleaning litterbox and was searching the Littermaid online and read some not so good comments on it as well. However, when I talked to people face to face, those that used it loved it! The things I've learned about it are that anything other then the LitterMaid Elite Mega is a waste of time and money. The other littermaids batteries burn out quickly and there are problems with the raking device. But the Elite Mega seems to be able to hold up really well. Also, you have to get a super good clumping litter, ie: Worlds Best Cat Litter. That litter is good for two reasons, a) it clumps really well and b) its low/no dust which means that the dust wont settle on any of the mechanisms and build up and prevent it from working properly. The other thing I've had to come to realize is that there is no such thing as a perfect litterbox cleaner. It just hasnt been developed yet. They all have issues, but for the most part they get rid of the bulk of the cleaning and you just have to do minor scooping every week to 10 days, or just replace all the litter, which is fair in my opinion.
I plan to buy the Elite Mega during the black friday sales because I know I will be able to get it for $90 at work.

That is hilarious!! :floor

I have 2 cats and have 5 litterboxes down in the basement because it's hard for me to go up and down those stairs every day. So I scoop when I go down to do laundry every other day or so. Not a big problem.

I am interested in what you all think about automatic litterboxes too.

Do you think my parents will think it odd if I add one of these to my Christmas list?

I have two cats and use the ScoopFree brand litter box. My cats love it. The replacement litter cartridge can become expensive at $15 each week. But I have started buying the Mini Litter from Walmart for about $4 and just clean out the tray and this litter. It works out fine!

Well I just got the Littermaid 900 about a week a I must admit I'm not impressed. I'm cleaning it more then I did my old regular litterbox and it smells more too. Also, it is SO messy. I'm seriously considering selling it on Craigslist. If I had a way to get it to scoop into a trash can instead of those plastic bin things and had a garage to keep it in then maybe, but not the way it is now. Plus, its HUGE!!! I have to keep it in my bathroom and its so lovely to look at all the time.

We had 3 littermaids when they came out a while ago.. Honestly.. brutally honest.. they are absolute crap

You cant clean them very well... every 6 months you should bleach everything down..
They break..
They are EXTREMELY sensitive if you put a lil too much litter in the box, the comb will jam up and not move.
If you put too little.. my cats dont like peeing on plastic..
If it gets stuck it will continuously cycle until the belt burns out or if your lucky to be home stop the noise!

I threw all 3 out and back to the Standard Pan and Scooper.

After a while I did switch to Feline Pine vs Scoopable litter.. its better for their lungs, they aren't inhaling silicone = / Feline Pine I really don't mess with. It goes in the pan and then I just dump the pan ever 2 weeks and put in fresh litter. Does really well no smell either
