Just wondering how long you all let your dogs gnaw on bones. I got a 9" long soup bone with the marrow inside & Kodie,(he's 10 months old), was having a great time with it in his crate for over an hour. My husband thought was too long & concerned about him eatiing 1/2 the marrow inside the bone. So far today his BM's are fine, not loose, which I thought would be because of the marrow. Thanks.

I gave 9 month old Luna a similar sized bone for the first time last week. I took out some of the marrow before I gave it to her. She was in heaven and I let her have it for an hour. Honestly, I think she would have occupied herself with it the whole day if I had let her. Anyway, her stool was a little more on the soft side later that evening, but nothing bad. Next day back to normal.

I've had such mixed feelings about giving any type of bone at all after having read all the pros and cons, but decided to give it a first try with my constant supervision. It just seemed kind of sad to me if a dog could never have any type of bone its entire life. Of course, if she had cracked a tooth or something I would have felt guilty. Hope Kodie continues to enjoy his bones.

I don't give mine real bones, but they do get a raw hide for about 20 minutes a couple times a week. I think this helps to keep their teeth clean. My vet couldn't believe how good Luke and Sidney's looked.

I gave Noel and Max their first raw marrow bone last weekend and I took it up after about 30 minutes. I took them in, washed them off and put them back in the freezer. They'll get them again tomorrow for about 30 minutes. Noel has a really sensitve stomach and I didn't want her to get diarreah.

aside from the marrow issue, i dont think there is really a limit on how long you could let them chew it. i like these bones to be something special so i do take them up after about an hour at most. we do have a couple of really cleaned ones lying about that they continue to play with, but fresh ones with marrow are a treat.
