Hello all,

We rescued our yellow girl back in October. At the time we were feeding our other dogs Canidae, they were doing really well, so we started feeding her Canidae as well. For about 4 weeks she never had a solid stool so we switched them all to Natural Balance. The other dogs were on this before the switch to Canidae and were doing great I just switched to Canidae because it was a little cheaper. I made a gradual switch as to not upset her tummy and 4 weeks later she still had not had a solid stool, if anything they got a little softer.

Last week I decided to switch to a Lamb based food just for kicks to see what happened. I went to Petsmart and got a bag of Nutro Natural Choice Lamb and Rice and to my surprise her stools firmed up pretty much over night, I think she might be allergic to chicken because Canidae and Natural Balance are chicken based.

So my question is, how long should she stay on the Nutro if I decide to make the switch to a different Lamb and Rice food ?

Thanks for reading,

Jim

If you don't want to keep her on the Nutro just switch her gradually to a lamb based form of NB or Canidae when the current bag gets towards the end.

Do you think your others would do good on the Canidae Lamb and Rice? If so, you could try the lamb and rice with her and feed them all the same.

I am planning on getting them all switched over to the Nutro once the Natural Balance we have gets near the end. I will probably feed the Nutro for a couple months just to make sure everyone is fine with the L&R formula, if all goes well I will look at other L&R foods and decide if I want to make the switch again.

Thank you for your input.
