My lab is 13 weeks old and her tail is about an inch and a half past her hock. Is the tail something that they grow into? It doesn't stick straight out when she walks it curves up. Does it mean that she is not a pure bred?

She has a lot of long bone growing to do and hopefully when she is done growing her tail will no longer be down past her hock. No, a curve in her tail does not necessarily mean she is not purebred. Talk to her breeder.

13 weeks is not the right time to be picking a puppy apart....if her tail is longer than the hock at a year, come back and ask.

Thanks, she is perfect to me but people have commented on her tail, which I thought was odd until I read about the breed. They have also commented on her paw size being large meaning she will be a big dog. I saw both parents and neither were over 70 lbs to me big would be 80 to 100. I never paid much attention to their tails. I'm just glad she has one!:o:

Paw size is a myth too. Grace had HUGE paws. You would have thought she'd be 100# when done growing. She is just 70# and her paws look tiny now. Then there's Jed who seemed to have average paws as a pup, and now as an adult has big huge paws.
