Hi,
Newbie here looking for some recommendations.
I lost my 4 year old chocolate boy about a month ago, they think from an anurysm. I couldn't bear to have an autopsy done, heartbroken enough.
Well, come to find out from a few others that I have ran into here in Alaska with Chocolates (and other labs for that matter) there are not alot of breeders and some are having problems with the dogs that are available. I think just because it's so hard to bring in "new blood".
Gosh, I miss him! The "come on, what do I get to learn today?" face...The "I'm so excited your home!" full body wiggle...The all around great walking/running/playing buddy.
Anyway, I am on a search....I'm not looking to have a new puppy right away. We are getting into the temps where it would be too cold to ship right now. But I want to be way more informed than I was before. I am looking for a good family companion as well as a strong hunter/field dog. I would prefer a male chocolate.
After my great learning experiences with my Bear, I really want to get into the trials, etc. Also, my husband and I hunt and fish and these guys are great companions for that!
So, if you have any information please PM me. I would love the input. Even information on how to research pedigrees, etc would be welcome.
Thanks!
TD
