Hi All,
I am starting to look for a new Lab puppy. As it has been 2 years since my 12 1/2 year old Black Lab had passed on. I have two children that barely new my dog before he died, but still miss him as much as we do. We all need a dog as a family member in the house to fill the void.

I have been on Petfinder.com, and other local sites but any potetial pups are gone just as fast as posted. Which is a good thing though. I live in southern Mass, near Cape Cod.

Preferably a male, 2 months - 5 months old. BLK, Brown, or Yellow.

Thanks for the help.

HI Jay,
I read your search about a puppy. I know of a breeder in Fairfield, CT ( a bit of a distance maybe) that has a 8month old black, male she breed and raised in her home. She also has a black female (9 wks or so). You can visit her web at www.snugharbor-labradors.com. We adopted a 8 yr old yellow female from her - and she is awesome. Email me if you want more info...(kstevens@cga.uscg.mil). Her pups run around $1100...the 8mon old is probably less.

Thanks for the lead, but I really would rather save, or help a needy dog than to fork out so much money on one. My wife and I donate a fair amount of money to local shelters and that money is beter spent on that than to a breeders pocket. We still need breeders, but I would rather not.

thanks
Jay

Jay,
Oh, I totally agree on saving a dog or pup. We adopted Jack and Gusty for a small fee. In both there cases, they were w/ a very loving home, but needed a new forever home. I have been involved w/ a group called NEARR and they are out of MA. I actually got approval to foster, but don't have a dog yet. You can adopt from them. Their website is www.nearr.com! I think they have a few different dogs (ages and situations) that they look to place. Not sure if this will help. When I was doing my search in CT, I would also look for a breeder page or kennel club and sometimes they have dogs they need to place. Good luck!

Flyboy,

I got shayna at

it may be a little bit of a ride from the Cape but they get lab pups in all the time. I was very happy witht he shelter.

Good luck!

PS: Gunnergirl here on this board always has lab pups - she recently adopted one to our area.

Good luck!
