View Full Version : LRROF - Keeley!
gatorblueyes 01-26-2008, 05:41 PM Well all went well at the Expo today. Keeley has had a few people interested in her. Here is a rough draft of what I will be posting on LRROF website!
Hi! My name is Keeley and I am a one year old chocolate female. My foster mom says I am the sweetest tumbleweed ever. I am learning basic commands and my boundaries and I learn very quickly with consistency and routine. I am crate trained and house broken but I like to test my boundaries so I need to be supervised for now. Apparently I have a lot of potential whatever that means:) My ideal home would consist of a family willing to work on my obedience training so I can be the best I can be! I love other dogs and play well with my foster sister but would do well as an only pup too. I don't know what cats are and my child exposure has been limited to only an open area outside but I was ok with that. I am so ready for my furever home so...pick me, chose me, love me...Keeley.

She really does. That isn't even a decent pic of her. She was so excited and nervous at the expo that it was hard to get a pic of her without her running or her tongue hanging out lol.

"I'm rising above... I'm rising above and do not want to be crossed while I'm busy rising." mmmm no...
"His testicles have swollen, which is the understatement of the year." uhhhhh no to this one too...
"I'm not cute." "I bite."...DEFINATELY NOT!
"Lots of hair. Too many women. Likes elevators and long walks on the beach." ...close but not quite right:confused:
"Besides, if I'm not going home, nobody's going home!"...we may use this one later;)
spyderlady 01-27-2008, 02:57 PM Edited...
Please! It is only my sense of humor...it was meant to be funny. I'm sorry it didn't come off that way.
I'll just go into a corner and hide now.
Gone!!!
gatorblueyes 01-27-2008, 03:15 PM Did I do something wrong:confused:...that really isn't how I intended it to come across but I also don't want to give someone a false sense of who she is. I mean, I looked at her initially and said oh...I have an adult dog...but she isn't...she's a puppy. She's a bit sloppy with her body awareness but she learns quickly and I will not let her go to a family that is not interested in training her properly. Sorry but I am a little upset by your interpretation. I haven't done this before. Should I change it? They haven't posted it yet.
gatorblueyes 01-27-2008, 03:22 PM As someone interested in a rescue, do we read these descriptions the way we read real estate ads? LOL
translation: I'm a doofus...duh!
Meant to read...I am a puppy and can be all over the place at times.
translation: tell me to sit 1,000 times and I'll do it for you at least twice!
Meant to read...I have learned to sit for my food, leash, the door and my crate in a few days thanks to consistency and routine.
translation: I take off like a bat outta hell if you don't hold on for all your worth! Tether me to your ankle in the house or you'll be sorry!
Meant to read...I have snuck something off the table and run off with a shoe cause I am still a puppy. She actually doesn't run off at all...she stays right by my side.
translation: I'm not completely hopeless, it only looks that way.
This could be true as I thought this on the first two days but I have been proven otherwise.
translation: Start begging the dog whisperer to make house calls immediately! If he won't come, then enroll me in military boot camp with some strong tough army guys, and I can live up to that "be all that you can be".
I just thought it was cute:confused: and was trying to make a point that she will not go to a family unwilling to train her.
translation: Don't blame me if I terrorize your cats as soon as I figure out what one is!
She hasn't been exposed to a cat so I don't know what she will do but there are a lot of families that do have cats so I want them to know.
SablesMom 01-27-2008, 03:55 PM She sounds so sweet & intelligent:thumb4:
Andrea I really like the tumbleweed, it is very
endearing & she sounds as though she is a
Happy Labby & affectionate & loves to play, loves Life...
Every dog deserves positive consistency in it's Life
& I think it was great that you mentioned consistency
as you truly care that a Adopter gives her the
time and positive consistency she deserves.
I'm impressed reading about her she sounds
terrific for being 1 years of age, she learns quickly:thumb4:
Regarding meanings - Just wanted to add that I am a REALTOR®
& when it comes to meanings... it is all straight forward
when coming from me.
Shaqpuppy 01-27-2008, 04:09 PM Your description is great - I would not change it. You are being honest, letting people know that while she is not perfect (none are) she is learning and is eager to learn :)

Wanted to add....
We have gone round and round with each other in our group about the descriptions that are posted. I believe they should be honest and upfront. Others believe the cuter the better. The problem with the "cutsie" write ups is that people believe they are getting a perfect dog and that perfect dog will fit right in and it's happily ever after. Some in our group have said that by the time the bad habits come out, they will love the dog and work through them. This is just wrong. The returns to the shelter prove that.
Stick with the truth, keep her profile updated as she progresses and you will find the perfect family for her :)

Ok thanks for the advice! I tried to make it truthful and cute. The point is, I want to spare her from being returned due to misconceptions because I would be so upset if that happened. I was trying to write what I thought I would want to hear/know if I were adopting her. I am also keeping a weekly journal for her new home. The commands she knows, when she is fed, when she potties, her likes and dislikes as well as her mistakes. If you can think of anything else, I am all ears. I want this to go well.
Shaqpuppy 01-27-2008, 04:33 PM You are doing great :thumb4:
SablesMom 01-27-2008, 04:34 PM You are doing great :thumb4:
She sure is:thumb4:
LuvLabs 01-27-2008, 04:42 PM You are doing a great job! She is a lucky girl to have you as a foster mom.
Dolly'sMom 01-28-2008, 08:25 AM I think the description is perfect! I think you're right - you should be totally honest. There's no sense leaving anything out, the family that adopts her will find out her good habits/bad habits anyway. At least they will know as much about her as possible and what to expect when she comes home.
By the way, she's so cute, she'll find her family soon!
