... Milo is being fostered by Whitney (asquared) and Grant.

She has written a letter from Milo to tell you more about his personality. He is good with other dogs and loves people. He is VERY eager to please and would be easily trained. He is housebroken, UTD on shots and available for adoption. PM us for more information.. or on how to adopt him! :D

Hey everyone! My name is Milo, and I am a 3 year old handsome yellow guy.

I love people! I am a great watchdog and I bark loud when the doorbell rings. Once I see who is behind the door, I politely greet them and then carry on about my business. Everyone I met today was very impressed that I didn’t jump on them at all!

I met my two foster brothers and one sister and they all think I have a lot of energy. I spent an hour running in the backyard with them, chasing and being chased. I love to be chased! My favorite thing to do is pick up a toy and when another dog comes near, I take off and see if they can catch me! I like to try to intimidate them with some heavy growls and even a few barks, but I’m really a softie. My foster siblings sure think I’m tough, so it must be working!

I love toys so much that I try to carry several around in my mouth at all times. I really don’t like to drop them, because they are so much fun- but my foster mom always offers me a really good treat when I decide to drop my toy, so it is worth it!

Tonight my foster mom introduced me to a clicker. We worked on recalls and sits. At first I didn’t like the noise the clicker made, but then I realized that the click meant “treat”! So now I love the sound and I am so eager to learn, and I so badly want to please! Foster mom says I am very trainable and I catch on quickly. I think training is a really fun game, because I get so many treats when we are training. I would love to go to a home that is willing to keep playing the training game with me!

When I have to go outside, I go to the back door. Foster mom opens it and I go about my business. I am not a big sniffer, I would rather pick up toys than sniff around. When I’m ready to come in, I come to the back door and look in. Tonight it was very wet outside, so I was really muddy! When I came in, she made me stand still while she wiped down my paws.

My foster mom wanted to see how I handled being in a crate, since I am not used to being in one very often. It was not as much fun as running around with toys, so I let her know! I barked very loudly and dug at the crate for about 10 minutes. She never came to rescue me! So, I gave up and guess what! She came and brought me a treat! I was quiet as a mouse after that and she kept bringing me treats. I really didn’t mind the crate after that. I laid down and took a quick nap in it.

Later on, my foster siblings were eating dinner and I decided to join foster mom upstairs. She was in the shower so I took her towel away. I’m such a funny guy! She came out looking for it and found me nuzzling into it and taking a nap! She said it was so cute she had to take a picture. She is always flashing that camera in my face! She said I am a beautiful subject. J

When I decided I was done playing for the night, I found my foster mom and laid down at her feet. I would rather be with people than anywhere else in the world! I love to cuddle and I don’t mind if you kiss my head or play with my ears.

Well, that is all for now- it has been a very long day and I need to get some rest! Good night!

Love,

Milo

He is absolutely beautiful!! Great pictures. Whitney and Grant, you are doing a wonderful deed here. He's gorgeous and at a great age; young to be lots of fun; outgrown some of the worst of the puppy habits. You're buying him the time he needs to find the perfect home!

I love him and I know I won't be the only one saying that! :)

Awesome letter Whitney. Milo's love for toys, carrying toys, and his love to be chased describe Sam to a T. Moxie would play with Sam that way and he misses those games. Keira and Otis don't sustain the game the way Moxie and Milo can and do!

This boy is going to find a really wonderful home and that's not just because he's a great and gorgeous dog. Milo's letter, the pics, the best foster parents and siblings ever, all spell good things for Milo!

Oh Jill, I sure hope you take him. I'm a little worried about "destroying" any training that Whit and Grant have done thus far if I foster him. ;) Although maybe he could teach my two a few things.:brow:

He is so gorgeous and does look like cute Tractor and he sounds like such a sweet guy. I would love to have him but it would be wonderful if he could be Finnegan's and Fischer's new brother. Anything we can do to help with Rick??????

Aww you guys are so awesome! We are having a blast with him!

He had the best night here- we debated keeping him in a crate but decided he had gone through enough for the day, so we shut him in our bedroom with the others. He found his bed and snuggled on it all night. He didn't wake me up for breakfast or anything! I think the family said they feed him at the same time every morning. He wasn't pushy for breakfast at all- he actually stayed snuggled up until I called them all to go outside! He seems to know what "do you want to go outside" means. He's about 50/50 with leg lifting and squatting. When he first got here he did pee on the house and then a tunnel, almost immediately, but I haven't seen him lift on anything else since. He's had zero house accidents and when he needs to go out, he stands by the door.

We had agility today and I was gone from 11-3. I decided to leave him in a crate at home, who knows how anxious he might be here and I wouldn't be home to watch him. He barked for a few, but stopped really quick. (I stayed in the garage and listened :)) When I got home he was laying down and sat patiently until I let him out to do his business. He ran around outside, and then came back inside and stretched out on the floor and fell asleep. He has adjusted so well here and it hasn't even been 24 hours.

He would be a fantastic agility or obedience dog. He is very attentive and loves working for treats. He also responds really well to body language which is great in agility.

One of my best friends is a great behaviorist and she came over last night to meet him and watch him interact. She said he was great- he is a bit of a guardian with his toys, but once he learns that the other dogs aren't interested, he lets it go. He is willing to exchange toys for food or other toys.

He is a very active dog- in the yard he is constantly running. Even last night, he got a 'boost' and started butt-tucking all around the house! I couldn't even catch him, but we both chased him and that was exactly what he wanted! He was hilarious to watch and I had to stop running because I was laughing so hard watching him run! My dogs just sat on the couch looking at me like I was nuts. ;) They never do stuff like that.

I just took a bunch more of him in the yard with Remi. I've also found out he likes to tug. He is a very vocal boy. It intimidates Alex, but Remi just growls right back at him!

He did try to mount all three of my guys- Abby corrected him the instant he thought about it, and he has left her alone ever since. Alex tolerated it for about 15 seconds and then snapped at him, and he has left him alone too. Remi, however, didn't know to correct so we pulled Milo off and he kept going back for more- well finally Remi had enough so he snapped too- and it hasn't happened since!

**UPDATE** It appears we have two board members very interested in Milo - both are filling out applications. This is going to be tough, both homes seem like they would be very good for him.

I'll update more when I know.

Milo is the kind of dog that would just thrive with training. He is attentive and loves to work for food. He needs a home that is willing to put the time into him that he deserves. His previous owners recognized this and knew they could not give him the time and dedication that he needs. He does spend most of the time mellowed out, asleep stretched out on the floor, so he definitely has an 'off' switch. He'd be great in a home that could put a few minutes into working with him each day and challenging him to learn new things.

He likes to flaunt his toys and wants you to chase him or try to grab the toy from him. However, he will not release the toy when he is playing this game. You need to walk away from him and show no interest, and he stops the game.

He has an excellent recall. That was one of the first things I noticed about him. As his foster mom, I am continuously rewarding him for coming when I call him. His forever home should do the same, especially when he first arrives, to build trust and to keep things fun.

Another thing that impressed me is that he has yet to jump on anyone, or beg for table scraps. He's making my own dogs look kinda bad...
When we have dinner, he lays down in the other room and sleeps. Even though he sees my dogs at my feet, he ignores it completely. Good boy!

Milo loves to put his head on your lap, and loves to be petted. He will stay by your side getting petted, until your hand gets tired. I think he would make an excellent therapy dog, with some more training.

His previous family used a prong collar with him, so he is used to that and does not pull. He will be easy to train walking on a flat buckle collar, because he gives a lot of attention and loves his treats.

This is the latest update on Milo. He also has a few quirks, that will need to be trained. Nothing serious, but Milo definitely needs to go to an active, positive training only kind of home. I will post more about that later.
