I'm I in need of lessons? or is it the camera?

I have a Nikkon Coolpix 8700. Anybody else have the same?

I had been pretty happy with it. I have had no luck at all with night time pictures, fireworks pictures, sunset pictures, backlight pictures, and not soo good with action. But for the every day photos it was doing great. And now since we have had Mousse I have been getting more and more unhappy. It seems to be slow, I miss alot. Definitely not any action shots going to be coming from me.

So I have been reading about this canon rebel xt that everyone is suggesting.... Is it really going to be better than my Nikkon?

Thanks in Advance!

Also if I decided to get rid of my Nikkon (it was an expensive camera) how do I go about doing that? Ebay? Do you know of any place that takes Trade-ins?

I like the Canon Rebel because it has a lot of different functions that you can use for the scenario's you were talking about - action (it is awesome for action shots..I take a lot of animals and they are not still for long, lol), a nighttime button and a no flash button that works great for fireworks. It is very user friendly and I have found it is an excellent camera :)

I used to have (still do) a canon powershot and even though it took good pictures it could never compare to the rebel..when I take pictures with it now i can see a huge difference.
