We missed out on the Mliwaukee Lab Fest last year as Dakota was just spayed and dont want to miss out on one this year.

So, will there be a Milwaukee Lab Fest?? :D

We are only a couple hours from Milwaukee, We would drive out for the day :)
Do you know of any good parks?

We would probably come up for one too if there was one. We live about an hour and a half away. We went last year and had a lot of fun!

I love the Granville Park, where it was last year - free, has a river that runs through it with lots of wooded areas, and no permits needed so out of town people wouldnt be bothered. Of course, I will check the next county over and see if there are any good ones there. I would be more than happy to coordinate it and host it as Jacky was so nice last year to do it! ;)

Is it fenced in???

Is it fenced in???

It's partially fenced. The part by the river is not fenced - the park is on one side and then on the other side is fields - tall grasses/corn or something. I was worried about that too but none of the dogs last year went that way - they all stayed by the people or other dogs.

As Jacky said... it is mostly fenced in. Here is a link to the park's website and more information: http://www.pipdogpark.com/

Put us down as a "maybe." My mom is having eye surgery on the 27th and I have to stay with her the 28th. So it depends on how that goes. Hopefully, it won't be a problem. I'd love to see you all again, and meet a few new people and their pups, too. :)

DakotasMom
06-26-2006, 10:22 AM
Wow! I would say that we can have an outing to the Granville Park in Milwaukee and then back to our house for some gnoshes (AKA food) on July 29th! This way we can get the pups all tuckered out before we get to eat (not like they wont be begging for any anyways! LOL).

We have a fully fenced in back yard, so that wont be a problem... and even the hubby said yes! :D

Jacky - I would like to get some info and stuff from you since you held it last year. Can you PM me with the best way to contact you? ;)

This is going to be great!

Wish everyone could come but I guess we will just have to have a mini Lab fest some other time for those that cant make it. I am so looking forward to this and will be working out all the details this weekend. Stay tuned! :D

It's a very nice dog park that is about 95% fenced in. There's only an open spot near the parking area, but that's quite far away from where we had the dogs playing last year. There's a large stream where most of the dogs played. Here's a link regarding the park with pictures and directions, etc.: http://www.pipdogpark.com/ It's actually called Granville Dog Park -- no idea why the website is "pip" dog park. :)

PIP stands for Partners in Parks - but yeah it makes it sort of confusing.

Sorry I havent gotten back to everyone. If you havent read already, Cheyenne was diagnosed with the early stages of OCD this week. She is on 2 weeks to a month of crate rest and possible surgery if it doesn't repair itself in the next couple of weeks. :(

Unfortunately, this means we will not be able to host the Lab Fest this year around the date already planned (since Cheyenne will be on crate rest). So, we will have two options: 1) Change the date of the Fest to maybe late August or 2) Someone else in the Milwaukee area can hold the after park get-together at their house.

What do you think?

Nan
07-08-2006, 07:01 AM
Change the date. :D

Sorry to hear about Cheyenne. Sending positive thoughts your way for her to be better. :)

Good thoughts for Cheyenne.

CrazyLab

I say change the date too. You have to be there too. August and Even September too. The best Weather is always in September. Sometimes August can be really hot and it's so hard on the dogs. But I'm up for anything.
I am sorry to hear about Cheyenne. Sending good thoughts your way

September seems like it would be the best time around Wisconsin.

September 9
September 16
September 23

Which date would work best for everyone? :D

As far as I know, any of them should be ok for us too.

How is Cheyanne doing Shannon?

DakotasMom
07-20-2006, 06:42 AM
She is doing well. I have been letting her play with Dakota (supervised) even though I am sure the vet would have a fit. Sorry but it is raining and I have two Lab puppies stuck in the house and Cheyenne has had no doggie daycare, dog parks, or dog walks in a week and a half! LOL

She isnt limping at all so hopefully we will hear good news on Saturday when we bring her in for more x-rays. :D

As for the Milwaukee Lab Fest - September 16th seems to be the best date for everyone... anyone had any problems with that?

You are down near UW, right? We can pick you up earlier if you want since we have two cars. :) Unless someone else lives down in that area and is willing to carpool... of course. Either way, Cheyenne was upset cause she didnt get enough play time with Ender at the park last time so she is set on making sure he can get to the LabFest. :)

Oh! I am going to be working on some Milwaukee LabFest t-shirts as well and should have them available this weekend. :D If anyone else would like to work on a design and can have it to me by Friday of this week (to allow for ordering/delivery time), that is more than welcome too! :)

I will send the link when I do and then everyone can let me know what they want and I will order them. That way, we can get even a better price if we buy them in bulk. :tup2:
