View Full Version : Milwaukee Lab Fest? DakotasMom 06-09-2006, 06:26 AM We missed out on the Mliwaukee Lab Fest last year as Dakota was just spayed and dont want to miss out on one this year. So, will there be a Milwaukee Lab Fest?? :D CrazyLab 06-09-2006, 06:38 AM We are only a couple hours from Milwaukee, We would drive out for the day :) Do you know of any good parks? LibbyRutt 06-09-2006, 11:20 AM We would probably come up for one too if there was one. We live about an hour and a half away. We went last year and had a lot of fun! CrazyLab 06-09-2006, 11:24 AM We would probably come up for one too if there was one. We live about an hour and a half away. We went last year and had a lot of fun! Yea....I could see Libby again...:) DakotasMom 06-09-2006, 01:52 PM I love the Granville Park, where it was last year - free, has a river that runs through it with lots of wooded areas, and no permits needed so out of town people wouldnt be bothered. Of course, I will check the next county over and see if there are any good ones there. I would be more than happy to coordinate it and host it as Jacky was so nice last year to do it! ;) CrazyLab 06-09-2006, 02:03 PM I love the Granville Park, where it was last year - free, has a river that runs through it with lots of wooded areas, and no permits needed so out of town people wouldnt be bothered. The part by the river is not fenced - the park is on one side and then on the other side is fields - tall grasses/corn or something. I was worried about that too but none of the dogs last year went that way - they all stayed by the people or other dogs. DakotasMom 06-10-2006, 02:09 PM As Jacky said... it is mostly fenced in. Here is a link to the park's website and more information: http://www.pipdogpark.com/ Ender's Mom 06-10-2006, 08:50 PM Hi!!! I'm a new member... but we live in Milwaukee so I'd be super interested in a local LabFest and just seeing who all is nearby. :D DakotasMom 06-11-2006, 05:35 AM Hi!!! I'm a new member... but we live in Milwaukee so I'd be super interested in a local LabFest and just seeing who all is nearby. :D Wonderful! Just trying to get an idea as to who would be interested and then the planning can begin! :D Vegas's Mom 06-12-2006, 08:57 AM Count me and Vegas in! We aren't too far either! jackyscott 06-12-2006, 08:58 AM Let's see - here's a preliminary list: DakotasMom EndersMom JackyScott LibbyRutt CrazyLab Vegas's Mom I'm sure Barb would come too but I know she's hasn't been on the board lately since her knee surgery. There's Jenny (Jet's mom) in Waukesha too. Barb 06-12-2006, 09:24 AM Randy & I would be interested as long as it's not during our scheduled vacation (July 14-24th). :) Ender's Mom 06-12-2006, 09:41 AM We have a vacation coming up as well... July 7-12 KrissyK79 06-12-2006, 10:40 AM I'd definetly be interested!! We'd be coming from Chicago, but I've been trying to find something for a "vacation" and that would be perfect!!! I have alot of open weekends!! So anything really works for me!! Krissy & Charlie DakotasMom 06-15-2006, 07:20 AM How would July 29th be for everyone? jackyscott 06-15-2006, 07:23 AM Works for me Ender's Mom 06-15-2006, 07:23 AM Pretty sure works for me... where? LibbyRutt 06-15-2006, 03:03 PM I think we have that weekend open too. :) Ender's Mom 06-23-2006, 09:49 AM July 29.. but where? I know it's like a month away but I'm excited!!! Jen 06-23-2006, 09:53 AM We might have to make the journey to Milwaukee again this year. I think that weekend works for us. LibbyRutt 06-24-2006, 12:06 PM We might have to make the journey to Milwaukee again this year. I think that weekend works for us. Woo hoo! That would be awesome Jen! Barb 06-26-2006, 04:07 AM Put us down as a "maybe." My mom is having eye surgery on the 27th and I have to stay with her the 28th. So it depends on how that goes. Hopefully, it won't be a problem. I'd love to see you all again, and meet a few new people and their pups, too. :) DakotasMom 06-26-2006, 10:22 AM Wow! I would say that we can have an outing to the Granville Park in Milwaukee and then back to our house for some gnoshes (AKA food) on July 29th! This way we can get the pups all tuckered out before we get to eat (not like they wont be begging for any anyways! LOL). We have a fully fenced in back yard, so that wont be a problem... and even the hubby said yes! :D Jacky - I would like to get some info and stuff from you since you held it last year. Can you PM me with the best way to contact you? ;) This is going to be great! CrazyLab 06-26-2006, 11:26 AM July 29th is ok for us too. Vegas's Mom 06-26-2006, 12:45 PM Works for us! Can't wait to see some of you again...and get to meet some of you!! CrazyLab 06-26-2006, 01:49 PM Who is going to pick the place?? I will be coming from the Chicago area, so I have no suggestions. Ender's Mom 06-26-2006, 03:29 PM I thought Dakota's mom has something in mind. LibbyRutt 06-28-2006, 12:59 PM Woo hoo!!!I'm excited! another lab fest to look forward to. :) Last year's Milwaukee labfest is actually how I joined the board. I was looking for lab get togethers near us and it popped up. LOL Nan 06-29-2006, 03:42 AM July 29th is out for me. :( I'll be out of town that weekend. Payton & Cooper 06-29-2006, 06:31 AM :( I'm so sad...I wanted to try and come to one of these!!! They sound like so much fun. We live in the Chicago area so it wouldn't be that far, but we have something planned already that weekend.:( DakotasMom 06-29-2006, 06:45 AM Wish everyone could come but I guess we will just have to have a mini Lab fest some other time for those that cant make it. I am so looking forward to this and will be working out all the details this weekend. Stay tuned! :D CrazyLab 06-29-2006, 06:50 AM Sounds like fun. Is the park a dog park? Fenced in?? Barb 06-29-2006, 08:11 AM Sounds like fun. Is the park a dog park? Fenced in?? It's a very nice dog park that is about 95% fenced in. There's only an open spot near the parking area, but that's quite far away from where we had the dogs playing last year. There's a large stream where most of the dogs played. Here's a link regarding the park with pictures and directions, etc.: http://www.pipdogpark.com/ It's actually called Granville Dog Park -- no idea why the website is "pip" dog park. :) CrazyLab 06-29-2006, 09:09 AM Looks nice and only about 2-1/2 hours. Not too bad. :) jackyscott 06-29-2006, 11:19 AM It's a very nice dog park that is about 95% fenced in. Ender's Mom 06-29-2006, 12:34 PM Wooo hoo!!! We may go check out this place sometime in the next week... only 15-20 minutes from where we live!! WOOT!!! DakotasMom 06-30-2006, 02:31 PM Incase anyone cares - we are going there tomorrow (Saturday) around 9am and then again on Tuesday morning (to tire them out before the fireworks start). If anyone wants to meet up, shoot me a PM. :D leisaanddirk 07-04-2006, 11:32 AM Dh and I may be able to make it that weekend too. Please put us down as a "maybe" at this point. Sounds fun! DakotasMom 07-08-2006, 06:03 AM Sorry I havent gotten back to everyone. If you havent read already, Cheyenne was diagnosed with the early stages of OCD this week. She is on 2 weeks to a month of crate rest and possible surgery if it doesn't repair itself in the next couple of weeks. :( Unfortunately, this means we will not be able to host the Lab Fest this year around the date already planned (since Cheyenne will be on crate rest). So, we will have two options: 1) Change the date of the Fest to maybe late August or 2) Someone else in the Milwaukee area can hold the after park get-together at their house. What do you think? Nan 07-08-2006, 07:01 AM Change the date. :D Sorry to hear about Cheyenne. Sending positive thoughts your way for her to be better. :) Ender's Mom 07-13-2006, 01:08 PM Change the date... I'd offer but our condo isn't up to the task I don't think lol. Good thoughts for Cheyenne. CrazyLab 07-13-2006, 02:07 PM I say change the date too. You have to be there too. August and Even September too. The best Weather is always in September. Sometimes August can be really hot and it's so hard on the dogs. But I'm up for anything. I am sorry to hear about Cheyenne. Sending good thoughts your way  DakotasMom 07-18-2006, 08:04 AM September seems like it would be the best time around Wisconsin. September 9 September 16 September 23 Which date would work best for everyone? :D jackyscott 07-18-2006, 09:21 AM They are all good for me. I think September is a great time for this!! Ender's Mom 07-18-2006, 11:55 AM All good here :D Nan 07-18-2006, 12:52 PM September 16th for me. :D LibbyRutt 07-19-2006, 09:19 PM As far as I know, any of them should be ok for us too. How is Cheyanne doing Shannon? DakotasMom 07-20-2006, 06:42 AM She is doing well. I have been letting her play with Dakota (supervised) even though I am sure the vet would have a fit. Sorry but it is raining and I have two Lab puppies stuck in the house and Cheyenne has had no doggie daycare, dog parks, or dog walks in a week and a half! LOL She isnt limping at all so hopefully we will hear good news on Saturday when we bring her in for more x-rays. :D As for the Milwaukee Lab Fest - September 16th seems to be the best date for everyone... anyone had any problems with that? CrazyLab 07-20-2006, 06:50 AM Sept 16th is good for us too :) Vegas's Mom 07-20-2006, 07:20 AM The 16th works for me too!! Nan 07-20-2006, 12:59 PM As for the Milwaukee Lab Fest - September 16th seems to be the best date for everyone... anyone had any problems with that? Yay!!  Keeping my fingers crossed. :D Ender's Mom 07-20-2006, 02:35 PM 16th it is!!! action_jackson 08-03-2006, 08:36 AM I live just north of Chicago and I would love to come up to Milwaukee. My parents live in Milwaukee and have a lab they might be interested in bringing. Keep me posted, jackson and I would love to attend. http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k77/jaundice22/jacksonoutside.jpg Tobys Mom 08-03-2006, 02:55 PM I am a new member, referred by Ender's Mom. I am in Muskego and would love to come to the lab fest. My Toby will be 8 months on Aug 6th. Where is the park that this will be at? I haven't heard of it. Where is the park that this will be at? I haven't heard of it. Welcome! It will be at Granville Park just off of Good Hope and 45. :) You are more than welcome to attend. :) Ender's Mom 08-11-2006, 08:27 AM Crap... 16th is out for Eric... Ender and I are available but with no car, there isn't a way to get out to the dog park :( DakotasMom 08-14-2006, 11:05 AM Crap... 16th is out for Eric... Ender and I are available but with no car, there isn't a way to get out to the dog park :( You are down near UW, right? We can pick you up earlier if you want since we have two cars. :) Unless someone else lives down in that area and is willing to carpool... of course. Either way, Cheyenne was upset cause she didnt get enough play time with Ender at the park last time so she is set on making sure he can get to the LabFest. :) Oh! I am going to be working on some Milwaukee LabFest t-shirts as well and should have them available this weekend. :D If anyone else would like to work on a design and can have it to me by Friday of this week (to allow for ordering/delivery time), that is more than welcome too! :) I will send the link when I do and then everyone can let me know what they want and I will order them. That way, we can get even a better price if we buy them in bulk. :tup2: DakotasMom 08-14-2006, 12:10 PM Just set up an Official Wisconsin Lab Fest 2006 thread with all the details for the Milwaukee Labfest! :) http://www.lab-retriever.net/board/showthread.php?t=74049 Ender's Mom 08-14-2006, 12:40 PM jackyscott is awesome and offered a ride... but thank you as well!!! I am sooo looking forward to this! |
