Mocha
Mocha was the first chocolate lab my family owned. She came to us in 1977 at 2 months old, the same year Star Wars came out... what a year! ;)
Mocha was a brilliant hunter. A wonderful mom to her pups and my best friend to pal around with.
Mocha was 14 years old when we finally had to let her go.

Oreo
Oreo was born in 1978, the first litter of Mocha's. Oreo was the runt of a litter of 11 pups! She wasn't going to make it, according to my dad. I remember thinking to myself 'oh yeah!'. I bottle fed her for weeks and she, obviously, pulled through.
Oreo was a sweetie, never letting me out of her site. She lived with my dad the last years of her life, while I was off in the military.
Oreo was also 14 when she passed away. I will always remember her sweet face and disposition.

Bomber
Bomber, sweet Bomber. I still cry over this fellow.
Bomber was born in 1982, Mocha's second and last litter.
We thought Bomber had kennel cough when he was just a couple months old, but he actually had and artery wrapped around his esophagus. He had surgery to correct this, but he had to have soft food blended for his entire life; hard food would come back up.
He ended up being a big love bug, since he really was dependent on people. What he needed in care was always paid back in full, plus some, in the love he showed our family.
His nickname was Houdini, he was an amazing escape artist, which in the end was his undoing.
Bomber escaped the yard one night and made his way to the main road and was hit by car, he was only 6.
I can still see his big soulful eyes, piercing my heart.
