toby is 9 months on innova large breed puppy and geting 3 cups a day. we are soon switching to calif. natural chicken and rice and were wondering how much of it to feed when he is fully switched since it is more calorie dense. we tried using the feedng calculator but it told us we should be feeding him FOUR cups on innova large breed puppy per day. we don't trust it now so were wondering how much of it to feed. he will be 10 months at the time of the switch and will probably be 65-70 lbs.

I lov your enthusiasm! If your dog's weight is good on the number of calories of Innova you are feeding him, then feed the same number of calories of California Natural. It may be less volume, but just feed the same - initially - number of calories. Once your lab has been on it for a few weeks then you can assess if you need to increase/decrease the portions.

Remember to transition slowly and you can add a tablespoon of canned pumpkin (I prefer Libby's canned pumpkin myself) to help avoid any runny stool issues during the transition.

You want to be able to feel the ribs but not see them and not be able to feel the spine...just a general rule of thumb to determine proper weight.
