Hello everybody!

I'm the proud owner of two labs. One of them will be 3 years old in August, and has been eating Eagle Pack Holistic for the last two years. Well, about two weeks ago, I rescued my second lab. This one is a really young pup. I'm not sure of her age, but she looks to be under 2-3 months and currently weights 7 pounds.

My question is, how much food should I be feeding the small pup? My older lab was already a decent size and has been happy with how much she's been eating. I just have no clue as to how much to give the other one, because I've never had a puppy this young or small..

I am currently feeding both of them Eagle Pack and the small one get Eagle Pack Puppy version. I have both kibble and the cans. The older on recieves kibble in the morning and canned food in the evening. Should I keep the same pattern for the puppy? And if so, how much should she get at each meal?

Any information is appreciated. Thanks.

Our vet & breeder recommended 1 cup 2x per day for our 8 week old pup.

He devours the morning cup, but so far (6 days) he only eats about 2/3 of his afternoon cup.

I would be feeding an 8 to 12 week old pup 3x/day and give approx. 1/2 to 3/4 of a cup per meal depending on the pup. This is on a 360 kcal/cup or cal/cup hi quality (low carb) food at 28% protein, 16% fat.

If your kibble is higher in cal. you'll have to adjust accordingly to avoid loose stools.

I don't feed canned food to my dogs. If any time - its for a bit of flavor only and more in the form of left over meat from our dinner such as chicken/meat scraps. But i don't add this to a Lab pups meals until at least 5-6 months of age and I go very slowly to avoid loose stools.

I usually weigh the dog and then start with the bag recommendations to start and adjust accordingly based on stools, time it takes the dog to eat, how they look etc.

I remember when we put Grace on Nutro Natural Choice L&R at 4 months, the bag said to match their weight on the adult scale and double it for pups. There was no way I was feeding her over 6 cups a day, so decided to feed her the adult portion and she developed very nicely.
