I know there are A LOT of posts in regards to puppy and adult food. I'm just curious if the girls HAVE to eat a puppy food for LB. Is it recommended so they grow at the right rate???

Girls are eating LB Eukanuba but Riley goes on and off with the runs, so I'm thinking of switching. I LOVE the Chicken Soup line and could also do the Wellness.

GusJack...

i have been told a million different things... from starting right off on adult LB, to incorporating it into diet... my Jack is 7months old, he gets Nutro 3 mixes.. LB, lamb and rice and puppy... he likes the mix, and very rarely has loose stools, when he does its based on the treats i give him.... i also add omega 3-6-9 and flax seed to it... he does well... but thats just my situation.... :)

JackLab, thanks for the input...I know what is good, just not what I want to get :) New puppy mom here, it was eaiser to figure out what to give the 8 and 5 yr old we have...!

BTW, where are you in Philly (gosh I miss it there). My dad has been in the NE (Foxchase) for 57 yrs..retired Philly fire fighter! Spent many, many yrs in Philly - I used to work in Jenkintown.

My dog was switched to adult food at 5 months, per my breeder's recommendation. For some dogs, Wellness can be too rich and also cause mushy stools and gas.

Here is the theory for LB foods.

Puppies: High Protein (over 26%), Low Fat (under 15%), low Calcium and Phosphorus, Glucosamine and Chodroitin.

Adults: same thing just regular levels of Calcium and Phosphorus.

This formual is supposed to help control bone vs muscle/joint growth rate to help prevent joint problems. G&C to further help prevent joint problems.

Don't believe in this theory? Thats fine there are other foods cheaper, equal, and more expensive that have traditional formulas.

Good Luck!!
