Hunniebun 01-06-2009, 06:47 PM Very pretty kitty :)
DaLLasBlackLab 01-06-2009, 06:49 PM She is declawed.. she is 9. She is so cute and mellow. So excited for them :)
She is at the Eleanor Sonsinti Shelter in Pittsfield, MA
It such a nice place. I feel so bad for shelters. We gave them a nice donation.
The dogs are heart breaking to look at. One older dog Akita mix, was found dying all alone in the woods. I left there in tears. Im so happy my brother and his girlyfriend are adopting her though. :)
so pretty! maine coons are hard to come by even in a shelter. my buddy has one and he's a love bug. congrats on his adoption on an adult kitty!
renee 01-07-2009, 09:48 AM I have a Maine Coon too. I love the breed :) Callie is beautiful!
wiwwitsmom 01-07-2009, 09:52 AM Very pretty kitty.
Crazy question but this cat looks alot like my DD's adopted cat. How can you tell if it is a Maine Coon cat?
Bailey's Mommy 01-07-2009, 10:05 AM She's gorgeous!!

Hailey's Mom 01-07-2009, 02:07 PM She looks like mix, but is very cute to say the least. Maybe MC and Domestic Long Hair, she has a pretty thick coat. Congrats on her adoption, wishing your brother all the best with this cute kitty!
Hailey's Mom 01-07-2009, 02:11 PM Very pretty kitty.

A common characteristic of a purebred MC is fine hair on the tips and inner ear and their coat is uneven throughout, long in the face and tail but a bit shorter over the main body. They come in almost every color and coat pattern. MC's are beautiful cats and make wonderful family cats too. ;)

DaLLasBlackLab 01-07-2009, 03:06 PM Its HUGE in real life. Alot longer and taller then Dustin. She looks very similar to Dustin but the coloring a bit different. I love my little boy!!!!!! He has every single trait I have read about the Maine Coon. Not being a cat lover 'at all' I am in love with ours!!! :)
They get her tomorrow and are shopping tonight for her. I am so excited for them.
They also have a gorgeous Australian Shepard named Benji. I hope all goes 'well' with the introductions. :) I will post more when I get the update.
Keno's Mom 01-08-2009, 12:40 PM Nice cat - but more of a Maine Coon mix. Looks like a lot of grooming will be needed - that's why I like shorthairs better!
DaLLasBlackLab 01-08-2009, 04:42 PM So they picked Echo up tonight at 5pm at the shelter! They stopped at my brother's girlfriends mom's house to show her off and are there now eating dinner. They said Echo is exploring her entire house and purring like crazy. Not scared at all. They are going to keep her name they said because when she was in the bedrooms they called her name and she ran all the way to the kitchen right to them. THEY LOVE HER! Here's a pic they just sent to me from their cell phone... with her new grandma! :)

DaLLasBlackLab 01-08-2009, 06:59 PM Echo is home :) Purring like crazy on my brother's bed. The introduction went fine with their dog benji. They have a baby gate up right now.. they are both scared of each other for the moment but Echo is in love with my bro's girlfriend. They have her on webcam now and she is purring like crazy and she keeps pawing at her. SO CUTE! :)

Hailey's Mom 01-08-2009, 07:27 PM AWW she looks soo happy! Yay for Echo!!!!
Whenever our shelters gets the specialty breeds MC's, Persians, Ragdolls, etc. they always have issues eating and then adapting to their new environment. Glad to see she is making herself right at home.
Dustin, you make quite an impact sir. Dustin the kitty who speaks out about adoption, haha! :D
yay! that's cool that she comes when call!!! that never happens with mine! ;)
DaLLasBlackLab 01-09-2009, 06:41 AM They found out that the owner of Echo was an elderly woman who had to be placed into a Nursing home. :( Echo had one owner since she was a kitten and all her records are at a local vet's office in town. So they are going to get her entire history. :) Last night Echo slept in bed with Kristen and my brother Dave and Benji slept on the couch :(
Poor Benji cried all nite wanting to go nite nite in the bedroom. I told them not to disrupt Benji's routine? Is that good advice? Benji is used to sleeping in the bedroom. BUT.. by the look of things it seems Echo is totally a bedroom with mommy type sleeper. I think they will be having a few sleepless nights! BTW, Echo has a M on her forehead like Dustin..and she grew in her winter snow shoes, all the tufts of fur between her toes and she is gentle giant, so she definitly has alot of Maine Coon like the shelter says.

BUT.. by the look of things it seems Echo is totally a bedroom with mommy type sleeper. I think that was great advice. Echo and Benji will most likely figure out who is supposed to sleep where. My sister is in a nursing home and I'm fostering her cat (semi feral) who had never seen another dog or cat. It was a tough go but everyone seemed to figure out the pecking order without much fur shed:) Occasionally there will be a flare up but nothing that shout won't stop. I can imagine how upset the owner was to have to leave her behind. I'm glad Echo found a great home:)
DaLLasBlackLab 01-09-2009, 07:04 AM Here is Echo's competetion... BENJI a purebred Australian Shepard who thinks the pecking order goes like this. My brother, him.. and everyone else after. LOL
DaLLas was not allowed near any of Benji's toys over the Christmas Holiday break. GOD FORBID. LOL :tapfoot:
Maybe Echo will put him in the correct pecking order.

DaLLasBlackLab 01-10-2009, 01:55 PM so far the interaction has gone smooth! Echo has hissed a few times... and Benji for the most part is scared of Echo. So far so good. :)
