When Coach goes to drink water she always lays down. This started about two weeks ago. My in-laws laugh and call her lazy. Do you know why she started doing this??? Should I get a raised feeder and water bowl? Does it really matter? She still eats standing up but lays down for the drink.

It really doesn't matter if a pup/dog eats or drinks standing up or laying down. Its not something to be concerned about. As for why she started to do this - I have no idea why. I'd just think she feels comfortable or likes to drink in that fashion.

I thought there was a new way for me to drink my cocktails. Naw I wont try it laying down.

Coach just as long as they are drinking. My dog Mariah would eat laying down. Actually I thought that was a great way for her to do it.

My lab loves to lie down in front of her bowl and drink, especially when she comes in from a play session. Occassionally she even tries to lay in the bowl or at least put her paws in it. We finally went out last weekend and bought her a small pool at Petco. She now spends hours splashing around outside. She also loves to sit and watch birds. I guess some things about a breed really are hard wired into the brain.
