A friend pulled me aside and gave me some information on a dog food that he claims to be very good for Labs. He says his son has done research left and right and know a lot about this brand. It's called Nutrisource. does anyone know anything about it? As I trust my friend I don't want to do jump to getting something for chico that noone knows about.

I just looked it up. Its got a website and a notice on the front that it uses no ingredients implicated in the recall. That's good!

The Super Performance looked the best to me. It's chicken and rice, with the only other grain being oatmeal. The Lamb & Rice formula looks fine, though its got more grains and a greater variety of grains than I'm fond of (rice, barley, oatmeal). The Adult Formula, which is chicken, contains wheat, which I don't like, as well as rice, barley and oatmeal. The LB Puppy also contains wheat, as well as rice, barley oatmeal and corn gluten. I'd keep away from corn gluten for now, since it has been recently identified as contaminated with melamine in South Africa (30 dogs died) and a link has been suggested with the U.S.

I used to feed NutriSource and am still very fond of it. The only reasons I switched is I had one dog that had chronic ear problems (so decided to try something else for him) and availability was an issue (the Mom & Pop and Farm store I could get it at had REALLY funky hours and, if an emergency arose on a road trip, trying to find a Mom & Pop shop that's open past 6 PM on a Sat is like trying to find a needle in a haystack, lol). Other than that, absolutely no complaints, IMHO it's a good food. I used to feed the Large Breed Puppy Chicken & Rice, Adult Chicken & Rice, and Performance 30/20 Chicken & Rice.

I have a sample of cat food and pupp food that I got from an pet expo a month ago. I was thinking of checking it out for my cats possibly, if I can find a source to buy it locally, they don't have it at the store I buy their food at now.

I don't feed kibble to Angus and I wouldn't feed him puppy anyway. He is 15 months old, but the stupid lady that was passing them out said 'He is 1, he needs to eat puppy food.' She was very rude and was a big turn off to me. :2cents:

Our greyhound breeder also doesn't use puppy formulas. She simply adjusts the amount of adult formulas she uses.
