Anybody feed this kibble to their dogs? I've been researching different brands. Since Noel gets yeast infections in her ears, I switched her to Natures Recipe. She's had loose stools on the Natures Recipe for months, so I'm on the hunt again.

A friend of mine at work said her dog had pudding stools and they've firmed up and smaller since she's been feeding her rott Nutro Natural. It's wheat and corn free, so that should take care of the ear problems. I asked Noels vet about it and he said he's read the ingredients and they sound like good ingredients.

She goes to the vet tomorrow to rule out parasites, then I'm going to switch. I looked at some of the real premium brands such as Orijen, California Natural, Candiea but there aren't any stores near me that sell it.

If someone could take a look at the ingredients I've linked and tell me what you think, I'd appreciate it. I'm going with the Herring and potato.

I would stay away from Nutro Natural if you can. Canidae and Eagle pack or Calif. Natural are all really good. I have to drive a little further away to get the Canidae but worth it.

I agree with 3lablady.

You can order food on line at www.petfooddirect.com (http://www.petfooddirect.com) and it is often cheaper than buyng in the store. They have discount specials all the time 10-22% off, They carry a to of brands including Calif. Nat. which is an excellent food.

You just have to play around with the site for shipping. It is often cheaper if ordering 4 bags - you save shipping by placing 2 separate orders - 2 bags each.

However, if using a coupon code for a discount you must place an order for 2 bags on one computer and than go to another computer to place the order for the other 2 to use the same coupon code.

It works, I've done it.

Thanks for the information. I'll look into Pet Food Direct for one of the better brands. Her fecal was negative for parasites, but she did poop in the floor while we were in the room, so the vet got to see the consistancy that I was describing...She said "oh yeah, she's got a little colitis going on" and prescribed her Flagyl for 10 days. She told me to stop with the pig ears and things of that nature.

I'm still going to switch her food, but I'm going to wait until she finishes her medicine first. Or....should I change now while she's on medicine for a irritated stomach?

We never had luck with Nutro...turned my dogs in poop machines.

We fed the Nutro Natural Choice Lamb and Rice for awhile and the dogs did very well on it. But I didn't want to be feeding glutens and soy, so we changed to Nature's Variety.

If you are interested in trying Nature's Variety, PM me and I can hook you up with a $5.00 off coupon for trying it and give you some links to some other good coupons.

I agree with your vet on the pigs ears, etc.

If the food is causing the problem than a switch is in order. Check with your vet on doing it now or after meds. I would think now.

Hi Everyone, both my vet & breeder are on vacation, I have a question & I know I'll get an answer here before next week. My Kodie is 9 weeks old & I feed him 2 1/2 cups of Flint River Ranch Puppy/Adult kibble a day. He is now 16 lbs. My concern that last wee on 8/9 he was 12 lbs. Is 4 lbs gain in one week a concern & is 16 lbs Ok for a 9 week old puppy? I can't remember 14 years back with my senior dog. Thanks to all!!!

The biggest pup in my last litter went home at 8 weeks and weighed (trying to remember exactly) 14-16 lbs. and he was not fat. Eating 2 1/4 cups per day split into 3 meals.

Keep an eye on his belly and if he starts to look chubby cut him back a touch.

He will be fine for a week until you can talk with your breeder and get their opinion on proper weekly/monthly weight gain for their lines. I would ask them before your vet.
