With the board being down the last two days I don't want to leave anyone hanging with Lab Fest info!

Here is what I remember (all my PM's and old posts are GONE!)

What to bring with you:
-Dog

-extra plates, napkins, cups - if possible - again Just in Case!!

Last I knew the admission fee was either $5.00 or $10.00 per person- pups are FREE.
If there is anyone in the close area that would use a membership all the time - if you purchase that membership ($150) then we all can get in for only $5.00..please let us know!

We will also be having a raffle, but I'll have to let Nexus post about that - not sure on ticket prices or prizes.:confused:

Paws park has picnic tables available and grills!

I have also made some fun Ohio Lab Fest bandana's for all our pups! :bounce:

Not sure...I think she has to pay for them ahead of time. I'm sure if she knew you were wanting one she could get it and get the mulla later....might want to PM her. I know she was able to get on for a few min last night, but was on dial up and couldn't do much. :(

To add to Lena's Mommy's post....If you forget any items there is a Walmart about 5 miles from the park.

There will be a pond with a diving area that you and your doggies can enjoy. Towels & shampoo will be provided for your doggies! There will also be a kitchen & showers available for everyone! Please remember to bring your towel (s) & bathroom accessories if you are planning on taking a dip (these items will not be available for humans).

She is probably just going to order just what everyone wants. You could probably send her a check. All I know is that I was in charge of ordering the shirts for Chicago Lab Fest and I ordered a few extra sizes to take for people to buy and I got stuck with a few. But I'll use them. One day we took Charli to the park & daddy threw her ball to far and she kind of went blump blump blump (almost drowned) & daddy had to almost rescue her (eh hum) (she figured out how to come back up and paw/walk her way to the edge again). Funny thing was I wasn't to happy and totally scared outta my head but she went right back in the water like nothing happened. My concern is that we are going to the Ohio Lab fest June 17th, which they have a pond the doggies can play in. We have never been to this park before so we don't know where its deep, if there are traps etc (like in the Metro Parks) & since we really don't know if Charli swims (doggie paddles) do you think it would be a good idea to invest in a life jacket for her??

From what info Lora gave me when I redid her website (which should be up shortly) and what she's told me on the phone about the park. The pond is about 5-6ft deep in the very middle. She has I think 2-4 Labs of her own and they swim out there all the time as do her St. Bernard rescues. I also think, with all the other dogs out there and with all of us around, if one of them gets into trouble, someone should be able to get there to help fast enough... but I think their "lab" instincts will kick into OD and save them just fine. (I know Nexy's did..she was tossed out.. sink or swim baby!)

Yes, bring plenty of towels.. :)
Bring a meat dish for yourselves (ie: burgers, hot dogs, steaks whatever) and a side dish (ie: pasta salad, garden salad, relish dish? whatever)
I'll be bringing, napkins, forks, paper plates, and a few paper table clothes.. prolly pick up a few walmart cases of soda as well.. for the kids as well as some $1 bags of chips for the youngin's too... LOL Nexy LOVES the cheetos :)

Thanks for the thought though. Indiana would be even more traveling and I believe I was asked in a pm about rabies tags. No I don't have them, They have there county tags but thats it. I have no proof of vaccines minus the bottles and stickers off the shot bottles and I'm not even sure if I can find those...It's just not my month...I have done given up.

Thanky.. yup yup.. lol needs updating again too, well just minor stuff not a biggy. Doing Arkansas' site right now, almost finished with it. Also in the middle of doing a British dudes site that sells Gravestones & Plots... and we also have a Gay greeting cards site we're making cards for and the script too. LOL --- we also have a pending quote for a florida real estate site and a re-site design for a resturant in San Fransisco -- (those will prolly start next week) see I don't have much going on at all.. <grin>

Those little things on top of getting ready for the Labfest and my surgery next month..

We are so excited about going. I tell Charli everyday how she is going to make new girlfriends and boyfriends!! Which reminds me i gotta get Patches Dingos so when the IL come over they can give her one!! We are also sooooooooo glad that labby fest is Saturday!! It gets us out of a party (reception for friends had a small wedding on the beach Memorial Day weekend ). We were trying so hard to find a excuse not to go shhhhhh :floor I know my hubby will be mad at me for writing that :nono: (oooops) though even if Labby Fest wasn't on Saturday we probably won't go anyways....not our kind of scene. :)

We're all going to the lake and spending the weekend on the boat. It will be fun, but I'm really bummed...DH said, "I'm taking Ian & Amos with me, but you can go if you want"....I don't want to travel all that way ALONE without my pooch, baby & DH....Hopefully next time! Have fun :D

I was thinking the same thing. I swear there were TONS of people in the beginning who were going to come...I guess summer plans get changed and things get busy when kids get out of school.

If it had been any weekend besides Father's Day I more than likely would've come...DH and his dad are pretty close so we almost ALWAYS spend that weekend with the in-laws. Now that we have Ian, it's even more special. Maybe we can plan another "fest" in the fall? I really want to meet everyone!

I'm so sorry....I didn't think we officially changed it to the 24th in the last thread...I tried to put our warnings to everyone letting them know we might still be able to have it on the 17th! :( :(
I know how hard it is to change vacation days at work! :( I had the 17th weekend requested off for months and was devestated when I heard it might have to change,because I coudln't change mine either.....I'm driving from South Carolina for it :)

yeah it has been pretty cool here this weekend ... was only in the 60's a while ago ...

the nose is somewhat less swollen ... the good thing is it isn't draining near as much so I have went all day without the gauze taped to the bottom of my nose LOL ... just carrying around tissues. It is still really painful. But I am turning the corner I think in being able to function without pain meds LOL

I am hoping by next weekend I will be close to 100%

I'm pretty sure the park said they had a full kitchen if we needed it...so it could keep cold there....OR if you have a bowl bigger than the one your bringing it in, I've always just filled the bottom one with ice and set the other dish in it and it keeps a bit longer...

LOL, no sniffing isn't an issue really.

I gotta say, often I crack up when I read some of the posts from ppl who say that dogs don't have feelings, they don't think like we do.. etc.. well I can honestly say, MINE DO! I'd swear mine are humans reincarnated! Probably some past relative trying to get even with me LOL... naw seriously though, Princess, who's the oldest she'll be 14 in Sept. and booboo who'll be 13 in Oct are sisters, just a litter apart. Well, Princess has always picked on booboo except for when they "check out" strangers.. we have a test at our house.. when someone enters.. we let princess and booboo check um out, if booboo dont bite your arse LOL then ur A-OKAY! Princess starts this barking and dance bit.. then next thing you know booboo's biting butts.. Otherwise, no, neither of them listen worth doo-doo unless you yell at them.. both are beyond spoiled rotten.. and when the two of them are together off-leash, they bolt for the highway.. LOL -- both are perfect angels when they aren't with each other... I swear, this is a TRUE sister hate/love relationship all the way. And lately, when Princess has booboo cornered, booboo wont take her crap no more and fights back... I'm STILL finding blood on the walls!!! from their last fight.

DH is in charge of Lola. Not to make her seem like a bad dog. Because she is far from it. She is a very well behaved dog. But she has a very strong herding instinct. Not so much with Klaus but with like my moms dogs, she wants them on the patio and not in the yard and she will run to them in the yard and gently push with her head in the direction of the house.

Kind of cool to watch, but annoying to other dogs. LOL

Joe is going to keep her onleash and just let her enjoy the atmosphere.

LOL, no sniffing isn't an issue really.

I gotta say, often I crack up when I read some of the posts from ppl who say that dogs don't have feelings, they don't think like we do.. etc.. well I can honestly say, MINE DO! I'd swear mine are humans reincarnated! Probably some past relative trying to get even with me LOL... naw seriously though, Princess, who's the oldest she'll be 14 in Sept. and booboo who'll be 13 in Oct are sisters, just a litter apart. Well, Princess has always picked on booboo except for when they "check out" strangers.. we have a test at our house.. when someone enters.. we let princess and booboo check um out, if booboo dont bite your arse LOL then ur A-OKAY! Princess starts this barking and dance bit.. then next thing you know booboo's biting butts.. Otherwise, no, neither of them listen worth doo-doo unless you yell at them.. both are beyond spoiled rotten.. and when the two of them are together off-leash, they bolt for the highway.. LOL -- both are perfect angels when they aren't with each other... I swear, this is a TRUE sister hate/love relationship all the way. And lately, when Princess has booboo cornered, booboo wont take her crap no more and fights back... I'm STILL finding blood on the walls!!! from their last fight.

Interesting... by the looks of it, booboo could pass for a double with Lola me thinks.. I'll talk to Mike (hubby) and see what he thinks.. Last week, Danni (the kid) and me took Nexy, Princess and Jackson to the lake for Nexy to go swimming. Jackson and Princess wont have squat to do with water. So, while Danni was throwing rocks and sticks for Nexy to go dive after, I turned around and watched Jackson and Princess start to walk off just exploring together.. I swear if they could have held hands they would have.. thats how close they were.

We'll see.. also depends on how well I feel that morning if I want to tend to 4 dogs. Thanks for the input though.. much appreciated.

Well, we had planned on being there around 12noon, (as I always say-It's about a 2.5hr drive for us and our pups) because I thought the time was set up for 11:30ish in the previous thread....I won't be able to be online much after tomorrow(will be driving and no internet at my sisters), so I hope we can get a time set in stone so I don't show up and no one else there......:rolleyes:

I got a donation to add to the wonderful raffle!!
I got these awesome bandana's off an eBay store, and they make them special to fit your dog, and sew in their name or nickname or whatever on the front. The best part about it is the tops are folded down to make a loop type thing that your pups collar slides through and it takes away the need to tie the bandana and you don't have the threat of it getting pulled during play and chocking the pup. I have a few for Lena that I will bring as an example.

I explained the Lab Fest and that all proceeds would be donated to a couple local shelters and rescue's and they wrote back tonight that they would like to donate 3 GC for 1 bandana each for the raffle. They are mailing them tomorrow to my sisters address so I should have them by saturday, and if not for some reason I'll make sure they get sent to the winners. :D :D

What we can't figure out is that you look at her (w/out knowing her name) and they keep calling her a HIM! I don't see any extra parts hanging from her and you can tell she is a girl (thats been fixed). Some people are so odd! Thats why i tell DH that I want a girl collar so they know she is a girl! I gotta show you these other collars & leashes i found at our local outlet mall. The one is a light purple and its says "its not easy being a princess" and the other one says "Am a Princess" or something like that & its pink! Its by BigDogs. Tooo cute!

OK, quick story. I was at the Petfinder 10th birthday party in NJ on Saturday. (you know, rhe one we changed the date of the labfest so I could attend :) ) and one of the big NJ news stations was doing a TV interview of me and Bubba. Half way through the camera lady says "SH!T"! I am like, "What, did I say something stupid?" No, I just realized looking through the camera that the door behind you that people keep going in and out is an outhouse. Never would have realized except for the guy that is still pulling his pants and zipper up behind you right now.

Needless to say we changed positions. Those camera people are supposed to know to check the background BEFORE filming!

We are leaving first thing tomorrow morning. I can't wait too meet everyone, and of course I'm looking forward to visiting with my friends that we are staying with. They are the other couple who are coming, They just adopted their Dobie from a Doberman rescue. His story is sad. But she says he is just a sweetie. I can't wait to meet him too. His name is Levi. Because he is a Blue Doberman. I love it. I hope he doesn't get discriminated against by all the Labbies.....:floor Here is a pic of him with his daddy Dino. Look at his ears, his first owner cropped his ears on their own and totally screwed them up. There is cartlidge chunked out. It's soooo sad. Bless his little heart. Now it looks like he has a comb over. :floor

When the rescue got him he was imaciated not sure what he weighed, but when my friends go him he was only 60 pounds, he is acutally small for a Dobie. I think the last time he was at the Vet he was up to 65 pounds and Nikkalynn, His mommy, swears he has gained a little more since then. I can't wait to meet him. She said he is a little lover. Bailey and him are going to be rolling around wrestling and probably getting on our nerves. It will be cute for about a minute :floor

:floor: Thats how Patches feels about Charli fun for about a second or 2 and she is cooked. Charli is about 70-75 pounds last time we went to the vet. You really can't tell she is that heavy because of all the muscles she has, but man when you pick her up for a bath than u can tell :floor: I only wish I had the dig camera downstairs last night when I was giving Patches a bath, Charli kept jumping up on the tub to check on her & than sniffed (kissed) her nose like its ok sis!! :pat:

Me too.....just wondering what to wear, what the weather will be like (hopefully not to HOT). Plus making sure we have everything in the cooler, plus charli's stuff, covering the truck so no hair gets all over it. I just checked out this website and it says that the event is "a PRIVATE event for the owners of breeding and show stock Labrador Retrievers". Is this the case? I'm pretty sure my Skyy is mixed with something. She definitely isn't breeding or show stock (although I LOVE her).

Don't feel bad our Charli Ann is a boxer/lab mix...am sure they don't care what type of doggie you have! Just as long as you have proof of shots they should be cool

Anyhoo.... I'm making macaroni salad, cookies and lol YES! a few adult beverages.. Lora gave the OKAY so long as you give her your keys before you start and aren't drunk when you're ready to leave.. otherwise she calls you a cab LOL... or we toss ya ontop of a truck and take ya home.

We had a GREAT time too! Thanks to all who came and Nexus for putting the entire thing together. Just got home and ready for bed, but will check the other post and put up a few pix tomorrow.

Hi everyone, we had a great time at the fest. It was nice meeting everyone. Joe, Bailey is going to town on all her Nylabones. They are the only thing I really get her to chew and she loves them. I have a few pics to post. I will get them on soon.
