I think that maybe the person we got our 6.5 wk old puppy from left food out around the clock for the doggies to eat because Bromley just doesn't seem interested in food at all when I lay it out for her. If this is in fact the case, how long should I except before she understands that she needs to eat when I lay it out for her or she loses it? I am feeding her the same food the breeder did (though I think it's crap so I'm mixing it in with Royal Canin) and making sure it is moistened well enough.

He doesn't like any treats either. How am I supposed to do any training with a dog that won't take any treats?!

I would work on training your dog to eat when it's time by putting hid food down for 30 minutes and then taking it up regardless of what he's eaten. As a pup, he gets meals 3 x a day. Don't worry, he won't starve. He'll quickly learn that he needs to eat when food is served or else he'll loose it.

Once you make it through that, he'll probably be more inclined to be food motivated. Although some dogs aren't. My female isn't at all. She loves food, don't get me wrong, but it's not a motivating factor for her. She loves playing, so we reward her with a couple of ball tosses after a training session.

But really, do the 30 minute food thing. We free fed our oldest and coddled him about his food, and to be honest, he's a big PITA now with eating. He thinks it's all on his time and if he doesn't want to eat, he won't. I have never seen a pickier lab. But lately, we've cut his food back...he used to get 2 cups a meal, now he's at about 1 1/4. And since we did that, he's hungry at his meals and never is fussy.
