I am new to the boards and I am glad I found this site!!!!!
Our newest addition will be joining our home in just 8 short weeks!!!! We currently have 2 cats and were talking about adding a puppy to the family too, when my sister in law called to let us know her 7 year old lab had 9 puppies!!! We were thrilled! What a perfect opportunity!!
The best part is, we have plenty of time to get the house ready for a puppy!!! We do not have any kids....our pets are our kids!
We have decided that whether we get a male or a female, the name will be Freddie!!! My husband had a dog named Freddie when he was growing up!! I am so excited!!!
If you have any tips for me I would love to hear them!!!

Welcome! How fun to be getting a new puppy and you will find all sorts of good info here. When I joined Barb V turned me on to the search option and it's great for all sorts of info! Look forward to pics of the new addition!

I am so happy for you! You sound like you will be the perfect lab mommy. I have a yellow lab that is soon to be 4. She is my baby. Just like a child to me. So I know how you feel.
This is such an exciting time for you! Freddie sounds like a great name. Male or female you will love your lab to bits and pieces. I sure do!
I have 4 cats so my suggestion to you is to introduce your lab to your kitties as soon as possible. Let them grow to love each other. My lab, Suzie, gets along with 2 of the 4 cats. For some reason she chases our 2 calico cats..... and loves the other 2 tabbies. I haven't figured that one out. May be because the 2 callies are a tad more aggressive. She would never hurt them. She just likes to chase them once in a while.

Thanks for the info on the cats! That is good to know!! Last night we went to the pet store and picked out the food we will be feeding him/her, we got a tag for the collar and we checked out prices of crates!!!
We are so excited. My husband likened it to us having our first child although now with a new puppy we will wait on having a baby!!
Only 6 more weeks to wait!!! :p:
