First let me say sorry to ask sooooooo many questions on here :emb:

Now on to the question :floor

DH wants to start painting the entire house (it needs it bad) & am afraid the smell will be bad for me & the baby. Is this true or not??

Yes, it's true. Unless he spends the extra money for paint that emits little/no fumes. It can be toxic.

In long episodes of exposure.....if you paint with fans running and a window or two open, I was told you'll be fine....we are painting the entire upstairs of our house this weekend, I already checked with the doc and did my research online.....as long as you're not sitting there huffing the paint, you'll be ok. :floor AND as long as its not lead based paint, lol.....

Just as a note - I wont be painting myself. :D Ill let the boys handle that. :floor

Thanks!! We are getting the paint from Lowes if that makes any difference......does it say on the paint cans low odor? Or should I just plan on spending most of the day with my parents/nephews :smile and possibly getting a hotel room just in case the fumes stay longer than they should.

Unless you need to be there, I would be somewhere else. If you can arrange for good ventilation, it would probably be sufficient to just be in another area of the home. The retail seller of the paint doesn't matter. Pregnancy safe paints are specifically designed to emit little to no fumes.

We used Ben Moore Ecospec paint while I was pregnant. It is a low odor paint and didn't really cost much more. If the color you want is from Lowes, Ben Moore can mix it. Or I would ask at Lowes because I am sure they have something similiar.

Thanks again everyone for your advice....I wasn't planning on painting myself just being in the hosue while DH & family do it. But it gives me more of a excuse to visit my parents & go shopping :brow:

As long as it's latex paint you're fine. No one needs to use oil based paint anymore these days anyhow. if smells make you queezy you might want to spend some time out of the house. Open up the windows, etc to air the place out. But you should be perfectly fine.

I painted the entire upstairs of my house when i was PG..( i did crack the windows) I did get the OK from my OB. We got latex paint from sherwin williams. Garrett turned out just fine, i had a healthy pregnancy, and he is doing wonderful at almost 6 months, (tho there are people who claims he has no personality ;))

I was in the middle of painting the interior of our house when I found out I was expecting our second child. My OB told me as long as it was latex paint it would be fine.
