Peanut butter is fine. Only small amounts though, because large blobs can be a choking hazard.

Fruit is okay in small amounts. Grapes are not - no grapes they are deadly to dogs.
Watermelon, apple, banana, pineapple,- okay.

You don't say how young the puppy is though. I would not give peanut butter to a puppy under about 4-5 months because of the choking problem.

I put a thin coating of peanut butter on the inside of a marrow bone or kong- they don't need a lot to keep them interested. And I buy all natural, unsalted stuff.

Be carefull of using peanut butter in Kongs. There have been dogs that have choked to death in my area. I didn't believe it when I first heard it, but my Vet confirmed it.

Got it NO GRAPES. I'm glad someone mentioned it b/c I have a friend who used to feed it to her akita for years and the dog was just fine. But she wanted to start giving my baby grapes as well. Now I know NO GRAPES. So I guess giving them fruits instead of milk bones and other dog treats is better for them? Please advise. Cheyenne is now 15 weeks old. 27 lbs. I just took her to the vet today for her rabies shot. She was such a good girl. According to the vet she's gonna be a big girl.

I usually let my dogs have a fingerfull of peanut butter and I put it behind their upper teeth so they have to lick it off from there....Grace got to try it for the first time this week!!

I think it's kind of cruel to put peanut butter inside of a marrow bone or kong, etc.

That's very frustrating for a dog.

I have always put peanut butter in a kong, but have always made sure that it is mixed with kibble to prevent choking. I only use enough peanut butter so that the kibble sticks together.
