Hello Everyone, I have some very sad news coming from Sue Fitch, a very valuable volunteer from the Jackson County Animal Control in Michigan. (For those of you following Chance's story, this is the same shelter). Jackson County was doing very well lately, getting OUT about 90 percent of the dogs that came into the AC. Sherry, the Shelter Director for The Humane Society of Huron Valley in Ann Arbor, Michigan was a TREMENDOUS help to Jackson, taking at least 5 or 6 dogs each week that Jackson could not place, transporting them to her Humane Society so they would be safe. Sherry is someone that cares very much for the unwanted dogs at Jackson and would offer to help every week in transporting them to her shelter in Ann Arbor, so they would not be left behind to be sold for research. Every since Chance's story, Sue was very happy to report that not one more dog has been sold for research...they managed to get them all out...and the aggressive dogs are now being put down instead of being sold (thanks to us)...but the BAD NEWS is that Sherry has been LET GO from her position at the Humane Society of Huron Valley and now there is NO ONE that will come for these dogs...This is a very sad situation, because now there is nowhere for these "left over" dogs to go (Sue says it is about 5 dogs per week). These leftover dogs now have a very good chance of being sold for research....they are wonderful, loving dogs...some may be strays and others are owner surrenders....Sue depended on Sherry so much, because these dogs would always be saved...from euthanization or being sold. Sue feels Sherry was let go because of a decision from the Commissioners to keep the Humane Society with more available space, so it never looks as though they are full? ....This is very SAD NEWS for the dogs at Jackson because now there will be at least 5 or 6 dogs per week that will be in danger of being sold to research...NOT GOOD.
If anyone knows of any rescues groups or organizations (Humane Societies) that can step in here and help out with this situation, please contact Sue Fitch sue@mgbiz.com (517) 768-1560 She would be so grateful, she is willing to work with anyone and does so much to help.
Thank you so much....let's try and save these dogs at Jackson from a horrible fate....Sue has two beautiful black Lab mixes right now whose time is just about up. :(
